Job Description
As the Portfolio Manager Team Lead, you are responsible for managing a regional team of Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Managers who are tasked with executing all portfolio management activities for monitoring, identifying, and managing the credit risk of the Investment CRE portfolio which consists of loan relationships greater than $5,000,000.
This position will develop a team of Portfolio Managers as well as individually engage in active portfolio management responsibilities ensuring timely, high-quality work product in analysis of borrower and guarantor financial statements, annual reviews, performance covenant testing, extensions, renewals, modifications, and risk rating assessments.
How you'll spend your time:
- You will assist in the acquisition, retention, and development of CRE Portfolio Managers with varying levels of experience.
- You will formally manage, guide, mentor, and coach in both technical and professional skills.
- You will foster a collaborative team culture that emphasizes credit quality, accountability and professional growth.
- You will monitor team performance, allocate workload and ensure timely completion of credit deliverables.
- You will enforce individual and team performance goals necessary to comply with portfolio management standards.
- You will proactively monitor and manage team's performance utilizing management reports, such as coming due and past due reports on annual reviews, covenants, exceptions, et al.
- You will perform credit risk analysis to recognize and elevate signs of risk in an individual loan, relationship, or the portfolio, through completion of the recurring portfolio manager tasks, which include: analyzing borrower/property and guarantor financial performance upon receipt of reporting; preparing annual reviews, modifications and various memos for approval; and determining appropriate risk ratings.
- You will confirm compliance with performance covenants as defined in contractual agreements and as compared to underwritten expectations.
- You will notify Relationship Manager and / or internal legal counsel to ensure timely notice is delivered to Borrower in the event of a breach and maintain oversight of breach through resolution.
- You will partner with Relationship Managers to effectively support assigned Investment Commercial Real Estate relationships.
- You will provide recurring customer service to clients, which includes direct contact with customers either through participation in joint calls with Relationship Managers or direct correspondence.
- You will perform various projects / tasks as needed with an emphasis on maintaining UMB TUCE at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
We're excited to talk to you if:
- You possess a bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Finance or related fields.
- You have 7+ years of commercial banking/finance experience (including 5+ years of specific commercial real estate experience) including credit underwriting.
- You have a current valid driver's license.
- You have excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
- You have expert knowledge & understanding in how to identify and process maturing loans, line renewals, term loans that need to be extended, how loans can be restructured, approval process, change terms, new underwriting, etc.
- You have an expert level of understanding of credit underwriting of all major investment CRE property types.
- You have a depth of knowledge of bank products, services, and bank operations.
- You have the ability to interpret policies/procedures, loan contracts, and understanding of credit reports, financial statements, and loan documents.
- You have analytical skills, including underwriting of CRE properties and markets; and guarantor financial statements, including real estate schedules.
- You are a self-starter, show initiative, and transfer knowledge to less experienced peers.
- You show proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- You have worked in commercial lending software.
Compensation Range:
$99,750.00 - $214,370.00
