Department: Obstetrics and Gynecology

Job Title: Post-Doctoral Fellow

Job Summary:

We are searching for a qualified post-doctoral fellow to join our growing laboratory. Our work focuses on stem cells and reproductive biology, particularly of the placenta. This individual will conduct interdisciplinary and highly collaborative research in in vitro 3D modeling to understand how the early placenta develops. The researcher will work primarily in tissue culture to model early development of the placenta, and a basic understanding or willingness to learn bioinformatics is desired. The candidate should be proficient in, or highly motivated to learn complex 3D culture, imaging techniques, and bioinformatic analysis. Successful applicants will need to work both independently and collaboratively, to exhibit excellent skills in scientific communication, and dedicated to scientific reproducibility, replicability, and transparency.

Key Responsibilities:

Research (85-90%)

  • Cell culture management
  • Methods/good laboratory notebook maintenance, documentation, and review
  • Designing and performing experiments
  • Developing and validating new methodologies/applications relevant to the research

Administrative (5-10%)

  • Writing full-length, high-quality scientific publications
  • Presenting research at national and international scientific meetings
  • Developing grant-writing skills by applying for institutional or other small grants

Teaching (5%)

  • Teach/supervise students or junior research services professionals

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in relevant scientific area such as Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Developmental biology, Stem cell biology, Reproductive Sciences.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with stem cell culture.
  • Prior experience with trophoblast culture or organoid cultures.
  • At least one first author publication or presentation at a national or international conference.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Practical experience in good lab notebook documentation.
  • Practical experience in keeping cell stocks, other lab chemicals and reagents organized.
  • Evidence of working on collaborative and interdisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated willingness to give/take constructive criticism and to sustain a supportive and inclusive lab environment.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE $62,232 - $70,344

Salaries commensurate with experience according to NIH Kirschstein-NRSA guidelines.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
