Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $71,564.06 - $78,010.40. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

What you will be doing

JOB DESCRIPTION

Background:

Many skeletal diseases are largely associated with or caused by inflammation. However, the underlying mechanisms are far from understood. Our lab studies osteoimmunology, an interdisciplinary field linking bone biology and the immune system, focusing on inflammatory regulation of gene expression and signaling in macrophage differentiation to osteoclasts (see the model of a new molecular regulatory network we recently identified), functional analysis of a newly identified bone marrow stem/progenitor cells, adipogenesis, skeletal damage and repair involved in disease (such as osteoporosis and inflammatory arthritis).

Ongoing studies include identification, function and regulation of bone marrow skeletal stem/progenitors, inflammatory regulation of macrophage polarization and differentiation into osteoclasts in osteoimmunology field.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education:

  • The qualified candidate must have a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. in molecular and cellular biology, immunology, bone biology or a related field and have at least one first author article.

Experience:

  • Expertise in cellular and molecular techniques, such as Cloning, ChIP, IP, FACS, confocal microscopy and histology/immunofluorescence staining, as well as genetic mutant mouse breeding are required.
  • Expertise in multi-color flowcytometry is required.
  • Candidates with experience and interest in bioinformatics analysis, such as RNAseq analysis and/or analysis of scRNAseq using Seurat, are preferred.

Skills required:

  • High level of motivation, responsibility and independence are expected.

  • The candidate should be able to successfully lead projects independently, while also contributing effectively as a collaborative team member.

  • High level of experimental reproducibility is required.

  • Strong problem-solving/troubling shooting ability is required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Expert knowledge and use of computers, software, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FlowJo).
