Job Description

Join the NVFS Family: We are looking to hire a Primary Teacher to join the NVFS Early Childhood Education team! At NVFS, our Early Head Start (EHS) program supports infants, toddlers, and families during the most critical years of development. We are hiring a Primary Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and developmentally responsive classroom for children ages birth to three. At NVFS, you are not "just a teacher." You are a trusted partner in a family's journey.

Key Responsibilities:

Create a Safe & Nurturing Classroom

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children

  • Build warm, responsive relationships with infants and toddlers

  • Support social-emotional growth and school readiness

  • Create engaging, developmentally appropriate activities

Support Individual Development

  • Observe and assess each child's learning style and developmental progress

  • Adjust activities to meet individual needs

  • Maintain accurate documentation and enter required data for compliance

Partner with Families & Team Members

  • Develop and nurture trusting relationships with families

  • Collaborate with classroom team and supervisor

  • Participate in reflective supervision and professional development

  • Maintain a positive and respectful classroom culture

Your Background: We understand that you may obtain skills through a variety of professional, personal, educational, and volunteer experiences.

  • Current CDA in Infant Toddler Development
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
  • Oral and written fluency in English; bilingual language skills a plus
  • Digital and technical proficiency, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate and live the organizational values of Communication, Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, and Accountability

Additional requirements:

  • Successful completion of background checks, TB test and physical upon hire
  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules and policy and procedures manuals
  • Attendance reliability
  • Must be able to lift a child up to 40 pounds
  • Must be comfortable coming into contact with sick children and taking care of toileting demands of children
