Leveraging cutting-edge LLMs, agentic workflows, and advanced evaluation frameworks, their platform is redefining how learners engage with technical and professional education.This is an opportunity to join a high-impact engineering team solving one of the most ambitious problems in AI today: creating intelligent tutoring systems that rival—and eventually surpass—the effectiveness of elite human instruction.We are seeking a Principal AI Engineer to lead the design, experimentation, and production deployment of sophisticated AI tutoring systems that combine large language models, real-time personalization, and scalable cloud architecture. Key Responsibilities
- Architect and enhance advanced AI tutoring systems utilizing LLMs, prompt orchestration, and agentic workflows.
- Design adaptive learning experiences that dynamically personalize content, guidance, and feedback in real time.
- Develop experimentation frameworks, evaluation pipelines, and custom metrics to measure learning effectiveness, model quality, and system reliability.
- Build scalable, production-grade software solutions integrating AI services with platform infrastructure and content systems.
- Collaborate with product leaders, educators, content creators, and engineering teams to translate pedagogical goals into technical implementations.
- Prototype and productionize emerging AI capabilities, incorporating the latest advancements in generative AI and machine learning research.
- Implement observability, testing, safety guardrails, and monitoring to continuously improve model performance and user experience.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and architectural guidance within a highly collaborative engineering environment.
- Contribute to engineering best practices focused on simplicity, maintainability, scalability, and innovation.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with at least 1+ years building complex LLM-based or generative AI systems.
- Strong experience with:
- Prompt engineering
- Multi-agent systems / agentic workflows
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- LLM evaluation frameworks
- AI orchestration tools
- Advanced Python development skills.
- Experience building scalable cloud-native applications in AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
- Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and production infrastructure.
- Ability to create custom evaluation methodologies when standard AI metrics are insufficient.
- Deep curiosity and active engagement with emerging AI research and technologies.
- Passion for building products that improve learning outcomes and user engagement.
- Ability to connect AI behavior, user experience, and educational objectives into cohesive platform solutions.
- Exposure to learning science, instructional design, edtech, or adaptive learning systems is highly preferred.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, highly ambiguous environments.
- Proven ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction.
- Passion for elegant system design and solving complex technical challenges.
- Experience with:
- OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or open-source LLM ecosystems
- LangChain, LlamaIndex, DSPy, AutoGen, or similar frameworks
- Fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, or evaluation tooling
- Real-time conversational AI systems
- Educational technology or personalized learning platforms
- Background in experimentation platforms, analytics, or human-feedback systems.
