Job Description

At Arctic Wolf, you won’t just watch the cybersecurity industry evolve – you'll help lead the change. Our global Pack is made up of people who thrive on solving hard problems, moving fast, and building technology that protects organizations around the world. We’re proud to be recognized by Forbes, CNBC, Fortune, CRN, Bartner Peer Insights and IDC MarketScape – but what matters most is the work behind it: delivering real outcomes for customers through award winning innovation like our Aurora Platform.

If you’re looking for meaningful work, smart teammates and the chance to make a real impact in a high-growth company that’s redefining security operations, Arctic Wolf is the right place for you!

Our mission is simple: End Cyber Risk. We’re looking for an Principal Developer - Exposure Management to be part of making this happen.

Location: This role is open to Hybrid-Eden Prairie-MN-US, Remote-US, Hybrid-Waterloo-ON-CA, Remote-CA.

About the Role

Arctic Wolf’s Exposure Management platform, built on a core foundation of Cyber Asset Attack Surface Management (CAASM), helps organizations discover, contextualize, and secure every asset across their environment. Our teams operate as empowered, cross-functional product teams — engineers, product managers, and designers collaborating to solve customer problems, not just ship features. We embrace DevOps principles and believe the teams that build it, own it.

As a Principal Developer, you will help guide technical direction across the Exposure Management product area — contributing to architectural decisions, raising the bar on engineering practices, and mentoring engineers across multiple teams. You are a go-to expert who helps unblock complex problems. Your work has executive-level visibility and helps shape how we build and scale the platform in pursuit of Arctic Wolf’s mission to End Cyber Risk.

Who You Are

  • Mission-driven and outcome-focused — you connect daily work to customer impact and business results

  • A self-starter who is proactive, curious, and constantly looking to improve yourself, the people around you, and the processes you work within

  • Customer-focused — you build empathy for the problems customers face and let that inform technical decisions

  • A clear communicator who can present to a room, read the room, and adjust — equally effective with engineers and executives

  • Energized by working in empowered product teams where engineers own outcomes, not just output

You Will

  • Help guide technical direction and contribute to platform architectural strategy across multiple teams within the Exposure Management product area

  • Participate in system design decisions with strong, well-reasoned technology recommendations

  • Review detailed designs and provide architectural feedback that accelerates delivery

  • Help drive alignment on cross-team technical decisions and promote consistency across platform services

  • Champion engineering principles — clean design, domain-driven design, separation of concerns, KISS — and hold the bar on code quality

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration within empowered product teams, working alongside product management and design to balance value, usability, and feasibility

  • Elevate engineers around you — through pairing, code review, design discussions, and knowledge sharing — so that teams deliver better solutions and individuals grow in their careers

  • Contribute to multi-year technology planning and roadmap discussions

  • Participate in the on-call rotation and serve as a technical escalation point during incidents – helping teams diagnose and resolve complex platform issues

Our Technology Stack: Rust, Go, Python, AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, Aurora PostgreSQL, SQS, EventBridge), GCP (Spanner)

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as a software engineer, with significant experience developing and operating SaaS platforms

  • Have designed and operated multi-tenant, cloud-native SaaS platforms at scale

  • Deep expertise in distributed systems and multi-cloud environments (AWS and GCP)

  • Strong experience with two or more of: Rust, Go, Python

  • Grounded in engineering principles — clean design, domain-driven design, separation of concerns, KISS, YAGNI — and apply them pragmatically

  • Demonstrated track record of elevating engineering teams — whether through mentoring individuals, improving team practices, or raising the quality bar across multiple teams

  • Contribute strategic technical recommendations with 1-3 year impact horizons

Nice to Have

  • Experience in cybersecurity, exposure management, CAASM, or adjacent security domains

  • Experience with serverless and event-driven architectures at scale

  • Track record of introducing new software patterns or technologies that improved platform quality

  • Experience with cost optimization and scalability strategy (COGs)

Opportunity for Additional Impact

  • For Principal Developers who demonstrate the capacity and desire, the following are opportunities to expand your scope at this level:

    • Help shepherd technology and design choices across the Exposure Management product area

    • Contribute to the big-picture technology roadmap for the platform

    • Help drive alignment of short-term needs, technical debt, and long-term strategic direction

    • Participate in ensuring quality and consistency of engineering standards, CI/CD, and testing practices

    • Engage in broader product strategy, feasibility discussions, and strategic external engagements

    • Serve as a technical resource across engineering teams
