Principal Engineer - Weight and Balance

Job Description:

As an airline Weight and Balance engineer, work on Flight management system configuration for airlines ground handled on Amadeus Flight Management. Project Manage implementation of new customers onto Flight Management software and other products. Assist airlines in the configuration of the DBM to enhance use of Flight Management. Support the business in all aspects of Flight Safety.

Key Responsibilities

Flight Safety

• Support delivery processes that prioritize high-quality flight safety standards.

Database Management

• Analyse Airline Weight and Balance engineering data (AHM565/X565).
• Configure Departure Control System (DCS) data for engineering, seating, and business needs.
• Validate aircraft Weight and Balance data through testing.

Training

• Present training material to internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain and update training content.
• Administer training sessions and logistics.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Collaborate with team members to enhance productivity and flight safety.
• Provide consultancy services to airline and aviation industry clients.
• Partner with Research and Development (R&D) teams to design and test new system features for safety and compliance.
• Support sales engagements with prospective customers.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years' experience in weight and balance limitations for airline operations.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in the use of aircraft manufacturers technical documentation.
• Familiarity with system engineering and requirements management.
• Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to travel for company, customer and industry meetings and events.
• Problem solving ability, team working and attention to detail.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and literate in Microsoft Word/PowerPoint.

• Relevant experience in weight and balance limitations for airline operations.
• Familiarity with aircraft manufacturers' technical documentation.
• Understanding of system engineering and requirements management.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally, with accommodations available.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of aviation regulations and certification standards.
• Familiarity with software development environments.
• Experience in aircraft performance and airport ramp (Remote Aircraft Movement Platform) operations.
• Familiarity with flight management applications such as Amadeus.
• Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and contribute to project delivery.
