Description -

Position Overview

The Principal Enterprise Architect for Asset & Configuration Management is a strategic technology leader responsible for architecting and driving the enterprise-wide CMDB and IT Asset Management (ITAM) strategy that leverages AI, automation, and next-generation digital technologies. This role leads the transformation of traditional asset management into an intelligent, predictive capability that serves as the foundational intelligence layer for autonomous IT operations, cost optimization, and strategic decision-making across a Fortune 500 global enterprise.

Strategic Mandate

  • Transform CMDB/ITAM from operational overhead to strategic business intelligence platform
  • Design and implement AI-native asset management capabilities delivering 2X productivity improvements
  • Establish enterprise-wide asset visibility across endpoints, applications, and multi-cloud infrastructure
  • Drive cost optimization through intelligent asset rationalization and license optimization
  • Enable autonomous IT operations through real-time, high-fidelity configuration intelligence

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Architecture & Strategic Vision

  • Define and execute 3-5 year roadmap for AI-powered CMDB/ITAM modernization aligned to enterprise digital transformation initiatives
  • Architect federated asset intelligence platform integrating ServiceNow CMDB with cloud-native observability, security, and FinOps tools
  • Design enterprise data models, taxonomy, and governance frameworks supporting 500K+ configuration items across hybrid cloud environments
  • Establish CMDB/ITAM as the "single source of truth" for IT assets, dependencies, and business relationships
  • Partner with C-suite and business leaders to translate asset intelligence into strategic insights and competitive advantage
  • Lead enterprise architecture review boards ensuring CMDB/ITAM integration across all major technology initiatives

AI & Intelligent Automation Implementation

  • Deploy machine learning models for autonomous asset discovery, classification, and relationship mapping achieving 90%+ accuracy
  • Implement agentic AI systems that self-heal data quality issues, predict asset failures, and autonomously optimize license utilization
  • Build natural language interfaces enabling employees to query asset information and trigger workflows conversationally
  • Design predictive analytics capabilities forecasting hardware refresh needs, security vulnerabilities, and compliance risks
  • Leverage generative AI for automated documentation, policy generation, and executive reporting
  • Create AI-powered recommendation engines for application rationalization, vendor consolidation, and technology stack optimization
  • Implement continuous intelligence using streaming data, real-time analytics, and event-driven architecture.

ServiceNow Platform Leadership

  • Architect and optimize ServiceNow CMDB, ITAM, HAM, SAM, and Discovery modules for Fortune 500 scale.
  • Design ServiceNow integrations leveraging Integration Hub, Flow Designer, and API frameworks connecting enterprise systems
  • Implement ServiceNow AI/ML capabilities including Predictive Intelligence, Performance Analytics, and Virtual Agent
  • Lead ServiceNow platform governance including release management, environment strategy, and center of excellence operations
  • Drive ServiceNow innovation through custom applications, AI-augmented workflows, and advanced automation
  • Optimize ServiceNow licensing and consumption models aligned to business value realization
  • Mentor ServiceNow architects and administrators building platform expertise across the organization

CMDB & Asset Management Program Excellence

  • Establish enterprise CMDB governance framework defining data ownership, quality standards, and continuous improvement processes
  • Implement comprehensive asset lifecycle management from procurement through retirement with 90%+ automation
  • Design multi-tier discovery strategy combining agent-based, agentless, cloud-native, and AI-augmented discovery methods
  • Build real-time asset reconciliation capabilities achieving
  • Create asset criticality and business impact scoring methodologies driving prioritization and risk management
  • Develop service dependency mapping enabling accurate blast radius analysis and change impact assessment
  • Implementing IT Asset Management covering hardware, software, cloud, SaaS, and IoT/edge devices

Software Asset Management & FinOps

  • Design AI-powered software license optimization program delivering 30%+ cost reduction while maintaining compliance
  • Implement automated software true-up and vendor audit preparation by reducing manual effort by 80%
  • Build SaaS management capabilities identifying shadow IT, eliminating redundancies, and optimizing subscriptions
  • Create FinOps frameworks with real-time cloud cost visibility, anomaly detection, and automated optimization recommendations
  • Develop license harvesting and redeployment workflows maximizing utilization of existing entitlements
  • Establish vendor management and contract optimization strategies leveraging usage analytics and market intelligence

Compliance, Security & Risk Management

  • Architect autonomous compliance frameworks for SOX IT controls, ISO 27001, and regulatory requirements
  • Integrate CMDB with security tools (SIEM, SOAR, vulnerability management) enabling risk-based asset prioritization
  • Implement continuous audit readiness with AI-powered sampling, exception detection, and remediation workflows
  • Design zero-trust asset verification leveraging continuous authentication and behavioral analytics
  • Build ESG compliance capabilities tracking IT asset carbon footprint and sustainability metrics
  • Create immutable audit trails using blockchain or distributed ledger technologies

Stakeholder Engagement & Change Leadership

  • Present enterprise asset intelligence insights to C-suite driving strategic decisions on technology investments
  • Partner with Finance for accurate IT cost allocation, chargeback models, and budget optimization
  • Collaborate with Security on asset-centric threat intelligence and automated vulnerability remediation
  • Work with Enterprise Architecture on application portfolio rationalization and technical debt reduction
  • Enable Procurement with automated asset request workflows and intelligent supplier management
  • Lead organizational change management ensuring 80%+ adoption of new CMDB/ITAM capabilities

Required Qualifications

Experience & Track Record

  • 15+ years progressive experience in enterprise architecture, IT asset management, or digital transformation
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow platform including CMDB, ITAM, and custom application development
  • 7+ years implementing CMDB/ITAM programs in Fortune 500 enterprises (50K+ employees, $10B+ revenue)
  • Proven success delivering enterprise-scale CMDB implementations achieving 95%+ data accuracy across 250K+ CIs
  • Demonstrated track record implementing AI/ML solutions generating measurable business value
  • Experience managing $10M+ technology programs with cross-functional teams spanning IT, Finance, Security, and Operations
  • History of successful vendor negotiations and contract optimizations saving $X M annually

Technical Expertise- ServiceNow

  • Expert-level proficiency in ServiceNow CMDB architecture, data modeling, and relationship mapping
  • Deep experience with ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and Cloud Discovery capabilities
  • Advanced knowledge of ServiceNow ITAM modules including Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and Software Asset Management (SAM)
  • Hands-on expertise with ServiceNow Integration Hub, Flow Designer, and REST/SOAP API development
  • Experience implementing ServiceNow Predictive Intelligence and AI/ML features
  • Proficiency with ServiceNow Performance Analytics, dashboards, and reporting frameworks

AI & Advanced Digital Technologies

Salary

The pay range for this role is$147,050to$230,850USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only).
