Overview
We are seeking an experienced Print Production & Finishing Specialist to support high-volume print, bindery, and finishing operations. This role is responsible for producing high-quality printed materials, operating production equipment, managing customer print requests, and ensuring all jobs are completed accurately and on schedule.
Candidates must have hands-on experience with print production software and finishing equipment, including Fiery, Duplo, GBC, and various bindery systems.
Key Responsibilities
Print Production & Finishing
- Receive, review, and electronically log customer print requests.
- Operate high-volume printers, copiers, and production equipment.
- Perform all forms of print finishing and bindery work.
- Operate paper cutters, laminators, inserters, hole punchers, folding equipment, and other finishing machinery.
- Perform quality inspections before, during, and after production runs.
- Troubleshoot print and production issues to ensure timely job completion.
- Inspect files for formatting issues, image quality, font compatibility, and registration concerns.
- Convert files and integrate variable data into print templates.
- Track, store, and archive customer jobs for future reuse and backup purposes.
- Wrap, package, label, and prepare finished materials for shipment.
Equipment & Asset Management
- Perform routine operator maintenance on production equipment.
- Clean and maintain printers, copiers, and finishing equipment.
- Apply asset tags and update equipment databases.
- Track office equipment moves, additions, and changes.
- Coordinate equipment service requests and repairs as needed.
- Collect and submit meter readings for billing purposes.
Administrative & Customer Support
- Process incoming and outgoing fax communications.
- Maintain production logs, inventory records, and billing documentation.
- Monitor supply inventory and distribute materials as needed.
- Provide basic end-user training on equipment when required.
- Support workflow improvements and production process development.
Required Skills
- Experience with Fiery, Duplo, GBC, and print finishing equipment.
- Strong knowledge of print production, bindery, and finishing operations.
- Experience operating high-volume printers and copiers.
- Ability to identify and resolve print file and production issues.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Professional communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Computer Skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience creating spreadsheets, sorting and filtering data, and generating reports.
- Ability to import/export files and transfer data between applications.
- Comfortable navigating networks, drives, printers, and shared folders.
- Strong email, file management, and data entry skills.
- Ability to configure printer settings and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Basic mathematical skills including percentages, multiplication, and division.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of customer service experience.
- Previous print production, copy center, or bindery experience strongly preferred.
- Experience operating production print and finishing equipment required.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Additional technical training or related print production experience preferred.
