Private Educator | Las Vegas, NV (In-Home) | Full-Time

We're seeking a skilled, relationship-driven educator to provide individualized instruction for a bright and capable fifth-grade student while helping create a developmentally rich learning environment that supports the growth of her younger siblings.
This is an opportunity to teach in a way that prioritizes curiosity, confidence, and meaningful academic progress through customized instruction tailored to how a student learns best.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Location: Las Vegas, NV (private family residence)
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-2:00 PM
- Start Date: August 2026
- Primarily one-on-one instruction with a fifth-grade student
- Occasional small-group learning activities involving younger siblings
- Fridays may include enrichment experiences, community outings, outdoor learning, or project-based experiences
- Minimal classroom management responsibilities, allowing for deep instructional focus and relationship building
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver personalized instruction across literacy, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies based on the student's strengths, needs, and learning profile.
- Develop and implement an individualized learning plan (ILP) with measurable goals, ongoing assessment, and documented progress monitoring.
- Provide structured literacy instruction using evidence-based, phonics-focused approaches that support reading accuracy, fluency, and comprehension.
- Build writing, handwriting, and fine motor skills through multisensory instructional strategies and targeted skill development.
- Teach executive functioning skills, including organization, task initiation, self-monitoring, planning, and independent learning habits.
- Incorporate movement, hands-on learning, real-world application, outdoor experiences, and project-based activities to increase engagement and retention.
- Create developmentally appropriate, play-based learning activities for two younger siblings and collaborate with the family's caregiver regarding implementation.
- Maintain consistent communication with parents and Thrive's Educational Manager regarding progress, observations, recommendations, and student growth.

Requirements
- Active state teaching certification or licensure (K-12 or subject-specific).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in classroom teaching, private education, tutoring, homeschool instruction, or a related educational setting.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing customized learning plans and differentiated instruction.
- Ability to assess student needs, monitor progress, and communicate growth clearly to families.
- Professionalism, discretion, adaptability, and comfort working within a private home environment.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related academic field.
- Experience with structured literacy, dyslexia-informed instruction, Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or similar evidence-based reading methodologies.
- Background in special education, learning differences, executive functioning coaching, or individualized educational support.
- Experience incorporating project-based learning, outdoor education, hands-on learning experiences, or enrichment-based instruction.
- Proficiency with educational technology, digital learning platforms, and productivity tools.
