Job Description

The Student Nurse Extern functions as a collaborative member of the health care team in partnership with and under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Will plan to interview candidates in April/May 2026 to start in June 2026.

  • Must be entering final year of Accredited RN Nursing Program.
  • Agree to work minimum of 24-hours/month.
  • May work partial or full shifts to fit schedule.
  • Set own schedules but may be asked to work PRN as needed.
  • Will receive Orientation on multiple units.
  • Student Extern position will end upon graduation from Nursing Program.

Will be asked for the following, upon selection for an interview:

  • Current copy of unofficial college transcript
  • A cover letter discussing your motivation to become a nurse, greatest strengths and greatest weaknesses.

Requirements:

  • BLS through the American Heart Association with card in-hand before start date.
  • Entering or in final year of accredited RN Nursing Program.

SALARY RANGE:

  • $17.00/hour +14% PRN Differential Pay.
  • $2.25/hour evening shift differential when working a minimum of 4 consecutive hours between 3:00pm-11:30pm.
  • $4.00/hour night shift differential when working a minimum of 4 consecutive hours between 11:00pm - 7:30am.
  • $2.25/hour weekend differential when working 5 or more continuous hours between 7pm on Friday and 7am on Sunday.
