Process/Production Engineer – Paper Machine Operations

The Production Engineer plays a key role in optimizing paper machine performance by coordinating and improving processes, ensuring safety and quality, and driving efficiency through Lean Six Sigma initiatives. This position actively recommends technical enhancements based on best practices and current industry knowledge.

This job will have the following responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Superintendent, Maintenance, Shift Supervisors) to meet production, safety, and financial goals

• Coordinate technical trials to improve productivity and quality standards

• Troubleshoot daily issues and implement sustainable solutions

• Develop and maintain SOPs, training materials, and work instructions

• Estimate production timelines and cost impacts to support decision-making

• Analyze data using statistical tools to identify areas for operational improvement

• Lead Lean Six Sigma projects; identify and implement capital/non-capital solutions

• Plan and execute long-term process improvement initiatives

• Support interdepartmental efforts to achieve efficiency and budget targets

Qualifications & Requirements:

• BS degree in Engineering, Paper Science, Chemical, Mechanical or equivalent

• 6-10 years of experience in pulp or paper manufacturing

• Knowledge of paper machine operations required

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Minitab, Proficy, SAP (preferred)

• Lean Six Sigma certification (preferred)
