Job Description

Barnes Aerospace, East Granby OEM has an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Intern to play an integral role in our supply chain transformation. The right candidate should be a self-driven and enthusiastic student with junior or senior level status. If you are a high-energy individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, this position may be the internship for you!Core Responsibilities:

Support the Procurement team with day-to-day purchasing activities for direct material, outside services, and indirect requirements.Analyze purchasing data and prepare reports on PO placement, late-to-release activity, supplier on-time delivery, open-order status, spend, PPV, RFQs, and market-index trends.Assist Buyers with supplier follow-up, including obtaining order acknowledgments, updated delivery commitments, pricing, lead times, and documentation.Support RFQ and sourcing activities by compiling bid packages, comparing supplier quotations, evaluating cost/lead-time tradeoffs, and maintaining sourcing records.Help maintain accurate supplier, pricing, lead-time, and PO data within ERP systems and related procurement trackers; identify and correct data-integrity issues.Assist with supplier performance reporting, including supplier scorecards, corrective-action follow-up, and preparation for supplier business reviews.Support maintenance of the Approved Supplier List (ASL), supplier onboarding documentation, and supplier portal activities in coordination with Quality and other cross-functional teams.Support procurement standard work, training materials, work instructions, and the department skills matrix.Partner with Planning, Operations, Quality, Engineering, Finance, IT, Legal, and HR on assigned supply-chain initiatives.Complete assigned internship projects, analyze findings, recommend improvements, and present results to Procurement leadership.Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Strong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work in a business environmentAbility to schedule and organize time and tasks effectivelyAbility to work in a challenging and schedule driven environmentPossess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunitiesFamiliarity with intermediate (V-lookup/Pivot tables) and advanced (What-If, Power Query) Excel functionsFamiliarity with basic Power BI functions and ability to learn Articulate 360 software for standard work training creationMust be an innovator and embrace lean enterprise, principles and practices

Education Requirements:

Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university as a rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree preferred in Integrated Supply Chain Management, IT, Engineering, Business or Materials Management
