Position Summary:

The Procurement Manager will be responsible for identifying and sourcing materials and services, negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery of high-quality goods at optimal prices, supporting efficient production.  This position will also be responsible for scheduling and overseeing the supply and delivery of materials and products. Liaising with customers, suppliers, and distributors. Managing inventory issues, schedule changes, and cancellations.  This position will work closely with the Greenworks planning group to ensure proper materials to meet the OPE (Outdoor Power Equipment) build schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

  • Lead the development and execution of procurement strategies to optimize cost, quality, and supply reliability.
  • Negotiate high-value supplier contracts and establish long-term partnerships.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate supplier and market risks.
  • Source materials and services to meet company needs.
  • Manage RFQs, bidding processes, and pricing negotiations with suppliers.

Materials Planning & Production Support

  • Oversee Materials & Production Planner and Materials Coordinator to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align material availability with production forecasts.
  • Optimize inventory levels to balance availability and carrying costs.
  • Oversee the timelydelivery of materials and products to support operations.

Procurement Execution & Process Improvement

  • Implement procurement best practices and identify areas for process improvement.
  • Maintain accurate supplier and material data in ERP systems (SAP/SRM).
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, negotiation, and process optimization.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and coaching to the Materials & Production Planner and Materials Coordinator.
  • Assign responsibilities, monitor workloads, and ensure team accountability.
  • Foster collaboration with production, planning, and quality teams to support plant objectives.
  • Promote a culture of continuousimprovement and operational excellence.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of procurement experience in manufacturing (OPE preferred), including leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing material planning or coordination staff is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and material management systems; SAP experience preferred (1–2 years).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
