Product (Solution) Owner | Ambulatory Medical Specialties

  • Location: Hybrid - Candidates must reside in WI, MI, MN, or IA to be considered.

  • Reports to: Director, Clinical Systems

Position Summary:

We are seeking a strategic and collaborative Solution Owner to lead the Ambulatory Medical Specialty Solution Team, driving the vision, roadmap, and achievement of goals for specialty-specific ambulatory workflows. This team centralizes ownership of complex, high-acuity outpatient specialty workflows, including specialty documentation, orders, procedures, and Epic modules such as Beacon and Wisdom. The Solution Owner will focus on stabilizing, optimizing, and standardizing these specialty workflows to enhance clinician efficiency, care quality, and operational performance while maximizing the value of our Epic investment.

The role requires strong decision-making authority and effective stakeholder engagement skills, with a commitment to addressing end-user needs. While Epic technology is the primary focus, familiarity with other integrated technologies used by the business is beneficial. The Solution Owner will collaborate closely with dedicated KanBan and Scrum teams in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, fostering continuous improvement and knowledge growth.

The Ambulatory Medical Specialty Solution Team supports a wide range of specialties including Behavioral Health, Cardiology, Dentistry, ENT, Gastroenterology, Fertility, Neurology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pain Management, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Gastroenterology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Podiatry, Pulmonology, Rheumatology, Sleep Medicine, Sports Medicine, and Urology. The team works in close partnership with the Ambulatory Core Solution Team to ensure integrated, optimized workflows across outpatient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maximize the value of outcomes from the solution team's work

  • Define and achieve improvement and strategic outcomes, financial goals, and success metrics related to the solution.

  • Own the solution as a set of capabilities that enhance business value.

  • Maintain and prioritize the solution backlog to reflect the most valuable outcomes.

  • Ensure business solutions align with organizational goals and priorities.

  • Develop competitive and differentiating use cases for complex, multi-year opportunities.

  • Identify and interpret end-user requirements for solutions and services.

  • Discover opportunities for solutions within the customer/user base.

  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders and subject matter experts.

  • Analyze and interpret data to enhance service delivery.

  • Communicate the business value of services and solutions to customers and functional areas.

  • Collaborate with business areas, portfolio management, technology, and support teams to define and resource new features.

  • Develop and manage the solution budget.

  • Obtain approvals, track progress, and report to management.

  • Share responsibility for overall team performance.

  • Lead recruitment and skill gap identification for the solution team.

  • Work harmoniously within a large cross-functional team at all organizational levels.

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Engineering, or related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience in agile product ownership, product or solution management, leadership, or functional expertise.

  • Proven experience implementing large-scale functional improvements or strategic outcomes.

  • Skilled in facilitating meetings at multiple organizational levels.

  • Ability to work across functional groups and identify improvement areas.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Servant leadership mindset with innovative problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in data analysis and understanding business value.

  • Proficiency in prioritization methodologies and change management practices.

  • Healthcare experience is ideal.

  • Product Owner certification required, specifically PSPO (Professional Scrum Product Owner).

Desired:

  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.

Licenses and Certifications: Required:

  • Any license or certification relevant to the area of specialty.

Desired:

  • PSPO (Professional Scrum Product Owner) certification.

  • Additional Agile certifications such as CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner).

Technology:

  • Primarily Epic technology with the need to become familiar with other integrated business technologies.
