Job Description
Our client is looking for a Product Compliance & Stewardship Specialist for a hybrid position in Auburn Hills, MI. This is a contract opportunity with potential for extension or direct hire. Some travel may be required!We are seeking a Product Compliance & Stewardship Specialist to support product readiness and lifecycle compliance across global markets. This role is responsible for ensuring products meet all regulatory, certification, and environmental requirements prior to launch, while also monitoring evolving regulations and driving compliance initiatives. This position combines product validation, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship, partnering cross-functionally to ensure products are compliant, documented, and market-ready.Key Responsibilities: Product Compliance & Validation
- Ensure all products, parts, and kits meet regulatory and certification requirements prior to release
- Manage and validate compliance documentation (e.g., Certificates of Origin, IMDS, product certifications)
- Maintain document control systems and ensure accurate, current records in SharePoint and internal databases
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by assessing regulatory applicability and assigning classifications
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to collect and verify compliance and material data
- Conduct compliance audits and track performance through KPIs
- Maintain and improve compliance data systems and reporting tools
- Monitor global regulatory developments to assess impact on products and operations
- Support chemical and substance compliance, including restricted materials and environmental regulations
- Analyze regulatory changes and communicate business impact to stakeholders
- Support implementation of new regulatory requirements, including process updates and cross-functional coordination
- Assist with regulatory reporting (e.g., TSCA, CARB, EU submissions)
- Maintain a regulatory compliance calendar to ensure deadlines are met
- Partner with Engineering, Purchasing, Legal, Marketing, and suppliers to ensure compliance alignment
- Translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance
- Support updates to product standards and internal compliance processes
- Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding product compliance and safety
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, chemistry, law, or related field
- 1+ years of experience in product compliance, regulatory affairs, or product stewardship
- Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks (domestic and global preferred)
- Strong project management, analytical, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills with ability to simplify complex regulatory topics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint
- Detail-oriented with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Automotive or manufacturing industry experience
- Experience with IMDS, product certification, or regulatory reporting tools
- Familiarity with environmental and chemical regulations
