Job Description
Duration: 6 months contractJob Overview: We are seeking a Product Design Engineer to support the design and deployment of physical infrastructure within a large-scale data center environment. This role focuses on infrastructure layout, capacity planning, rack optimization, and design iterations using 2D CAD tools. The ideal candidate will have a background in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering disciplines and experience creating technical design documentation while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and iterate physical infrastructure designs for data center deployments.
- Create and modify 2D CAD drawings for rack layouts, capacity planning, and infrastructure optimization.
- Evaluate multiple design scenarios and recommend efficient infrastructure solutions.
- Prepare technical documentation, engineering drawings, and design specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support design reviews and implementation activities.
- Apply engineering fundamentals to solve design challenges and support product development through various project milestones.
- Ensure designs meet quality, reliability, and production standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with data center infrastructure, facility systems, or physical infrastructure design.
- 2–4 years of AutoCAD (2D) experience.
- Knowledge of capacity planning, rack layout optimization, and engineering design documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
- Ability to work full-time onsite and collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with data center deployment or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as sheet metal, machining, injection molding, coatings, thermals, FEA, or related product design disciplines.
- Experience evaluating multiple design alternatives and supporting engineering reviews.
- Strong collaboration and documentation skills in a fast-paced engineering environment.
