Job Description
Location: Hybrid or Fully Onsite
Introduction
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Product Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and a passion for designing innovative products. This role involves providing design support for iPad products and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize designs for function, aesthetic, and manufacturability.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High degree of motivation, curiosity, passion, and creativity
- Strong design intelligence, including mechanical intuition and creative problem solving
- Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals such as statics, strength of materials, and material science
- Excellent communication skills: written, visual, and verbal
- 3D CAD experience with any program; 2D drafting and GD&T a plus
- Around 10 years of mechanical design industry experience
- Prior work experience in the client's industry
- Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in the design cycle from concept through manufacturing
- Experience designing mechanical components for mass production, specifically molded, formed, and machined parts
- Familiarity with tolerance and stress analysis, electro-mechanical integration, and design for high volume manufacturability and assembly
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Using 2D and 3D CAD to communicate design intent, inspection requirements, and test methods
- Developing technical knowledge in areas outside your realm of expertise to understand design constraints and craft creative solutions
- Collaborating with outside vendors and internal manufacturing experts
- Engaging in prototyping, failure analysis, simple fixture design, metrology, and statistical process control
