About the Role
Plans, organizes, leads, and directs technical work related to product engineering activities. Serves as a liaison and coordinates engineering activities from concept through production testing. The product engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining the program: DFMEA’s, DVP’s, BOM’s, design review checklists, tolerance stacks, drawing GD&T, and any customer specific requirements. The product engineer will lead the product design team and maintain the open issues list related to product engineering with an emphasis on lighting.
Your Responsibilities
- Defines scope, plans, organizes, leads, and directs technical work and departmental/team efforts related to product, process, tooling, testing, and materials as it relates to product engineering activities.
- Translates direction of technical work into specific plans of action and directs product engineering activities to production phase. Monitors and controls costs, quality, timing, and other related aspects of projects. Understands and adheres to schedule and budgetary requirements of projects. Reports progress as required.
- Serves as a liaison and coordinates development activities of internal and external resources. Serves as a resource by providing a problem-solving function by initiating action to overcome obstacles as they are encountered.
- Participates in continuous improvement efforts. Researches, recommends, and implements new and/or existing products, processes, materials, and equipment. Engages in comparative and competitive analysis to ensure utilization of most appropriate and beneficial techniques.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Your Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 2-5 years of experience desired
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, coordinate and integrate internal data, and clearly articulate concepts, ideas and other issues relating to product engineering
- Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills to prioritize, coordinate projects, manage conflicting needs, and deal with many issues at one time. Must be able to work independently.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts and represent the Company in a professional manner when performing job duties. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to exercise influence at various levels and functions.
- Must be able to operate standard and specialized equipment/tools related to the job. Ability to calculate and analyze data, generate reports, present information, etc.
- Strong lighting knowledge preferred (photometric design/validation to customer and regulatory specifications)
- Light output, uniformity, positioning, LED selection, etc.
- Strong electrical knowledge preferred to interface with EE team on new and existing designs.
- Connector/terminal selection, general PCB knowledge, etc.).
- Module sealing techniques (welding, potting, etc.).
