Position OverviewThe Product Engineer (also known in the industry as an Application Engineer) is responsible for enabling sales growth by providing technical expertise and engineered solutions to customers within their assigned product portfolio, including sealing technologies and related components. At the time of hire, the specific product portfolio will be defined, and the role will report to the Engineering Manager – TS.This role combines customer relationship management with deep technical product knowledge to support existing accounts and develop new business opportunities. The position requires regular travel, with approximately 40% of the time spent on-site with customers to deliver in-person support, troubleshoot applications, and build lasting relationships. This is a full-time position, Monday – Friday.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, acting as a trusted technical advisor, particularly in the selection and application of sealing solutions (e.g., O-rings, gaskets, hydraulic and pneumatic seals).
  • Partner with sales to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate product and application solutions, including material selection, compatibility, and performance considerations for sealing applications.
  • Provide on-site support (~40%), including product demonstrations, training, application troubleshooting, failure analysis, and technical consultations.
  • Diagnose and resolve application issues related to seal performance, leakage, wear, pressure/temperature limitations, and system compatibility.
  • Partner with internal teams (Engineering, Customer Experience, Operations, Purchasing) to ensure accurate product specifications, sourcing, and solution delivery.
  • Work closely with Account Managers to support all stages of the sales cycle, including technical scoping, quoting, pricing strategy, and solution validation.
  • Collaborate with vendor partners to align on product capabilities, application best practices, and sales performance initiatives, particularly within sealing product lines.
  • Assist in developing sales targets, forecasts, and growth strategies within assigned product segments.
  • Support efforts to meet or exceed sales targets and contribute to regional sales strategy execution.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required for the Engineer title; candidates without an Engineering degree will be considered for the Specialist title.
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical, application engineering, or customer-facing sales role required.
  • Hands-on experience with sealing technologies strongly preferred, including knowledge of materials (e.g., elastomers, PTFE), application environments, and common failure modes.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide application-based technical solutions, including seal selection, system integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of fluid power systems, mechanical systems, or related industrial applications where sealing solutions are critical.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to present technical concepts in a clear, customer-friendly manner to audiences of varying technical levels.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly within the assigned territory.
