JOB DESCRIPTION:
Velia Multiservices is partnering with a fast-growing LegalTech startup to hire a Product Engineer (Backend-Leaning Full Stack).
This is not a traditional engineering role. You'll work directly with founders and an in-house legal team to build AI-powered products transforming the U.S. immigration system. The team is moving fast, shipping aggressively, and looking for engineers who thrive in high-ownership, high-impact environments.

About the Company
Our client is an ambitious early-stage LegalTech startup reinventing how immigration law is practiced in the United States. By combining AI, automation, and modern software infrastructure, they are building tools that dramatically improve operational efficiency for legal teams and create a better experience for clients navigating immigration processes.
You'll join a lean, high-performing team where engineers work directly with decision-makers, ship quickly, and have visible impact from day one.
What You'll Do
- Own features end-to-end — from backend architecture and database design to the frontend experiences users interact with daily
- Build scalable APIs and internal systems using Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and AWS
- Develop performant and intuitive product experiences with React and TypeScript
- Work side-by-side with the internal legal team to deeply understand workflows and rapidly ship tools that save hours of manual work
- Build AI-powered workflows and product features leveraging LLMs and modern AI infrastructure
- Use AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex as core components of your engineering workflow
- Contribute to product direction, technical architecture, and engineering culture in a fast-moving startup environment
- Ship quickly, iterate constantly, and operate with a strong sense of ownership and urgency
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals with full-stack product instincts
- Experience building production applications with:
- Python
- FastAPI
- PostgreSQL
- React
- TypeScript
- AWS
- Docker
- Experience building 01 products in:
- FAANG-level companies
- High-growth VC-backed startups
- Or as a technical founder
- Comfortable working directly with end users and stakeholders without layers of PM process
- Strong product sense and ability to move from ambiguity to execution quickly
- Proven ability to thrive in high-intensity startup environments
AI-Native Requirement
You must already use AI-assisted development tools daily as part of your workflow, including tools such as:
- Cursor
- Claude Code
- Codex
- Other AI-powered engineering tools
This team believes exceptional engineers leverage AI to dramatically increase execution speed and product iteration.
Education
- Degree from a Top-20 Computer Science program is required for candidates with less than 2 years of experience
