Job Description

Who we are:

Aro Homes is a thriving, purpose-driven company on a mission to redefine residential construction. Aro Homes was founded to create well designed, precision engineered homes that are beautiful, livable, and durable, while being built multiple times faster and having a positive impact on the environment.

We are a diverse and experienced group of passionate and curious designers, builders, engineers, product developers, and businesspeople who are passionate about and committed to delivering on our mission. We’ve demonstrated there is a massive opportunity to reduce waste and improve sustainability while building homes in a fraction of the time it takes traditionally. We utilize a repeatable, multi-disciplinary, and product-driven approach which is unique in the industry. We are funded by world-class investors who care about transforming industries for the better, including Eric Schmidt’s Innovation Endeavors. If you share the desire to leave a lasting positive impact on the world and to join a strong culture of intelligent, passionate people, then let’s start a conversation.

What you will be responsible for:

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on engineer to be engineering's presence on the factory floor. Aro homes are built as precision modules in our Sacramento facility, and the plant runs on documentation: drawings, BOMs, cut lists, and work orders. When a station hits a discrepancy, a part that doesn't match the drawing, or a build question, you are the person who answers it, fixes it, and makes sure the fix reaches every home it touches.

This is a problem-solver role that cuts across disciplines. You need to read architectural, structural, and MEPF documentation fluently, trace an issue from the station back to its source in the model or the BOM, and know when to make the edit yourself versus when to pull in a discipline owner. You will make real changes with your own hands: Bluebeam redlines on released sets, BOM and work order corrections, cut list fixes, and part number cleanup. Every document defect you catch and correct makes the next home build faster, and you will be the plant's advocate inside engineering for exactly that.

This position is on-site at our Sacramento, CA manufacturing facility, with periodic visits to our Mountain View office and active job sites.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the plant's questions: Serve as first-line engineering response for production leads and stations, with a committed same-week answer standard so the line never waits on engineering.

  • Solve problems at the station: Diagnose build issues across architectural, structural, and MEPF scopes, determine the fix, and get the station moving.

  • Make the edits: Execute redlines in Bluebeam, correct BOMs, work orders, and cut lists, and update shop documentation, then propagate those changes to every affected home in the pipeline.

  • Guard document quality: Capture document defects found on the floor, trace them to root cause, and feed the patterns back into engineering's release process so the same defect doesn't ship twice.

  • Route what you shouldn't decide: Triage issues that need a discipline owner or an engineering judgment call, hand them off with full floor context, and stay on them until they close.

  • Feed the product: Convert recurring plant issues into well-documented change requests, and represent manufacturability in engineering's design and release decisions.

  • Partner with QA and process engineering: Support station-level verification of implemented changes and coordinate documentation for new product introductions as they hit the line.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5+ years in manufacturing engineering, plant engineering, field engineering, or a closely related role; time on a production floor or a job site is a huge plus.

  • Fluency reading architectural, structural, and MEP construction documents, and the judgment to work across all three.

  • A track record of closing things out. You chase answers, you don't wait for them.

  • Strong Bluebeam skills and comfort working in BOMs, work orders, and structured documentation systems; Onshape, Revit, or ERP exposure a plus.

  • Clear, fast, written and verbal communication with production leads, engineers, and procurement alike.

  • Wood-frame construction, offsite, or modular experience a plus. Lean manufacturing exposure a plus.

  • Willingness to jump in and provide support across the company outside of domain expertise.

What we offer:

  • Opportunity to join an outstanding start-up team and grow a purpose –driven company from the ground up.

  • Competitive salary package.

  • Medical/dental/vision benefits.

  • Equity in the company.

At Aro Homes, we are focused on building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We are an equal opportunity employer, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
