Job Description

Product Manager (Data Foundations and Integrations)

This is a remote role open to candidates located in the Kansas City, Dallas, or Chicago areas.

What we're looking for

SMG is looking for a Product Manager to lead the roadmap for our data foundation and integration domains within Ignite. This role is a strong fit for someone who can pair product judgment with technical fluency, work closely with engineering and data partners, and turn complex platform needs into a clear, outcomes-driven plan. You'll partner across Customer Success, Sales, Operations, and Marketing to make sure the pipelines, connectors, and data models that power Ignite stay trusted, scalable, and aligned to real client and business value.

What you'll do

  • Own the roadmap for data foundation and integrations, connecting client needs and SMG's goals into a prioritized, outcomes-driven plan.
  • Use data and market context to inform prioritization, identify opportunities, and clearly explain roadmap decisions to stakeholders.
  • Break complex problems into MVPs and now, next, later sequencing that delivers early value while building toward long-term outcomes.
  • Lead discovery through client interviews, usability testing, behavioral analytics, and continuous voice-of-customer input from Customer Success and Sales.
  • Partner closely with engineering and technical stakeholders to shape trusted, scalable pipelines, connectors, and data models across the Ignite platform.
  • Write clear epics, requirements, and user stories that give Engineering, Design, and Data Science the context they need to deliver with quality and speed.
  • Balance delivery across bugs, enhancements, and net-new capabilities while managing cross-domain dependencies with peer Product Managers.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Customer Success, and Sales to support release readiness, adoption, and measurable business impact.

What success looks like

  • Within 30 days, build fluency in Ignite's data foundation and integration landscape, key stakeholders, and current roadmap priorities while contributing to active discovery and planning work.
  • Within 60 days, establish a clear view of domain priorities, success metrics, and sequencing decisions, and begin translating validated problems into well-scoped requirements and roadmap updates.
  • Within 90 days, independently lead roadmap decisions and cross-functional execution across the domain, with progress visible in delivery, release readiness, and client-facing value creation.

Why you'll love SMG

  • We work with some of the world's biggest and most valued brands.
  • We're fully remote, and we're staying that way.
  • We offer competitive compensation and benefits, which include but aren't limited to:
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Extended parental leave
  • Company-issued equipment and tools
  • A culture built on connection, collaboration, and continuous improvement

What you'll bring

Required:

  • 3 to 5 years of product management experience in an agile SaaS or technology environment
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to engage credibly in technical conversations about data architecture, pipelines, and integrations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate client problems into technical direction and technical concepts into client value.
  • Ability to influence without authority and operate effectively in ambiguity across a wide range of stakeholders and teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience leading data migration, pipeline development, schema design, or data quality and governance initiatives.
  • Experience applying AI and machine learning concepts, including generative AI, predictive modeling, or agentic workflows, to product problem-solving.
