Join Caterpillar as a Product Service Engineer and play a critical role in supporting our Productivity Class Large Mining Trucks (785-793). In this position, you will provide technical expertise, troubleshoot complex issues, and deliver innovative service solutions that keep our customers' and dealer operations running efficiently. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product reliability, performance, and availability while ensuring compliance with Caterpillar's quality standards. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge mining technology, Life Cycle activities, and opportunities to influence product enhancements through New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI). What you will do:

  • Develop, support and influence dealer stocking strategies and aftermarket support readiness

  • Support NPI programs and responsible for partnering to develop NPI Product Support Deliverables

  • Coordinate and execute field follow support to evaluate NPI quality & reliability and customer acceptance of the new product.

  • Work with LMT Productivity Class Product Support to resolve quality and reliability issues.

  • Contribute to Productivity Class CPI projects by participating as a team resource in providing field data, developing publications, and supporting closure requirements.

What skills you will have:

Technical Excellence: Exhibits strong capability in NPI processes, including service literature development and field follow activities, and in CPI processes such as field investigations, service publications, and warranty analysis. Demonstrates proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and schematics and maintains a solid working knowledge of machine systems to effectively engage subject matter experts. Consistently delivers effective solutions to moderate technical challenges by evaluating implications and applying sound technical judgment. Takes ownership of personal technical performance and reinforces accountability within the team.

Customer Focus: Ability to Communicate the importance of dealer or customer needs/expectations and commits to resolving them. Solicits customer satisfaction feedback and acts on improvement opportunities.

Meets regularly with dealers or customers to understand their wants, needs and expectations.

Effective Communications: Ability to create and communicate technical presentations to dealers, customers, and internal stake holders. Demonstrates technical excellence when communicating a need or defending a position. Uses effective persuasive techniques to secure agreement and support. Effectively lead discussions / projects with consensus, action plans, and follow up.

Problem Solving: Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives. Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder. Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information. Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution. Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems.

Education requirement:

Bachelor's degree preferred or demonstrated equivalent knowledge through professional expertise.

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Experience in product service, life cycle, or field engineering for mining equipment or large off-highway trucks.

  • Familiarity with Caterpillar systems and processes.

  • Understanding of dealer stocking lists, parts availability, inventory, dealer support models

  • Proven ability to work effectively across global teams and suppliers

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information:

  • Primary work location: Tucson, AZ with a requirement to work on site full time at a Caterpillar facility
  • Domestic relocation assistance: Available
  • Travel requirements: Up to 20%

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
