 The Product Specialist is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing management of dental benefit products and related initiatives in alignment with organizational goals and business strategy. This position supports product lifecycle activities by gathering customer and market insights, coordinating cross-functional initiatives, assisting with business requirements, and supporting product-related communications and implementation efforts. 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and collaboration skills, along with an understanding of insurance products, customer experience, and operational processes. This role works closely with internal stakeholders to support product enhancements, growth initiatives, and go-to-market activities. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Supports product discovery activities, including gathering customer feedback, conducting market and competitor research, documenting business requirements, and assisting with feasibility analysis. 
  • Assists with coordination and maintenance of the company product portfolio, including plan designs, product updates, and growth initiatives.  
  • Provides product-related support and consultation to Finance/Underwriting, Sales, Marketing, and other internal departments.  
  • Assists in translating customer experience needs into documented requirements and product enhancement requests. 
  • Coordinates product-related initiatives across departments by collaborating with operational and executive stakeholders.  
  • Participates as a key contributor on the Product Steering Committee by preparing and presenting product and market data, sharing insights, and supporting cross-functional product discussions and decision-making. 
  • Supports collaboration efforts with DDPA member companies related to product initiatives and innovation opportunities.  
  • Assists with the development and implementation of product go-to-market and rollout activities in partnership with internal departments and external vendors.  
  • Develops and maintains product-related materials, including forms, letters, emails, brochures, presentations, and supporting documentation.  
  • Partners with internal teams to support product communications.  
  • Assists in identifying product improvement opportunities, operational efficiencies, and customer experience enhancements.  
  • Use AI and data-driven tools to more efficiently gather customer, market, and product insights, turning findings into clear, actionable recommendations for internal teams 
  • Help improve and automate product-related processes such as reporting, documentation, and communications by using emerging technologies to increase efficiency and consistency 
  • Demonstrates actions consistent with the organization’s vision, mission, values, code of ethics, and compliance/security standards.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • BA/BS or equivalent practical experience required  
  • 2–4 years of experience in product support, product coordination, product analysis, marketing, or related functions  
  • Healthcare, dental, or insurance industry experience preferred  
  • Understanding of medical, dental, and/or vision insurance products  
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams  
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines  
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information while adhering to data security and confidentiality protocols  
  • Demonstrated operational, product marketing, and project coordination skills  
  • Strong commitment to teamwork, customer service, and dependability  
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled tools that support analysis, documentation, and workflow efficiency 
  • Ability to review and validate information for accuracy in both traditional and AI-assisted work 
  • Experience creating structured, repeatable processes and outputs, such as templates, workflows, or reporting formats 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS  

  • Sitting/Standing (alternatively) continuously. 
  • Keyboard Use/repetitive hand motion continuously. 
  • Skill/ability related to comprehension, organization, decision-making, and communication appropriate to position/level.
