Production Machine Operator I

SUMMARY

The primary function of this position is to perform entry-level job duties on the finish end of the roll mill. Assists in other areas of the mill as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to housekeeping, cross training and operator level maintenance in support of equipment operation. Responsibilities also include attention to safety according to specific training and safety rules.

  • Assists in the banding, wiring, and removal of the bar/coil as it comes off the

line.

  • Applies identification tags to bar/coil and stamps appropriate ID on end of bar.
  • Uses forklift or overhead crane to remove bar/coil to the appropriate staging

area.

  • Insures that supplies used on the finish end are available, such as wire used to

tie the bar/coil and bands and staples to supply the banding guns.

  • Under direction of a more senior employee, learns and applies inspection pro-

cedures and techniques used to insure the quality of the product.

  • Removes scrap from the area and segregates it by grade.
  • Responsible for general housekeeping of the finish end of the roll mill.
  • Assists mill adjusters during changeovers.

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
