Position Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all production and employee activities on an assigned shift. This role ensures safe operations, consistent product quality, and achievement of production targets. The supervisor serves as a hands-on leader who promotes accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise shift production activities to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with specifications
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet production goals and customer deadlines
Review production and operations reports to identify and resolve manufacturing or maintenance issues
Conduct routine machine inspections to ensure safe and efficient operation
Develop, update, and enforce standard operating procedures
Lead and promote a safety-first culture, 5S practices, and continuous improvement initiatives
Manage raw material blending, including concentrates, additives, and repalletized materials
Oversee startup and shutdown of extrusion and downstream equipment (pullers, coilers, etc.)
Identify non-conforming material (NCM), troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions
Ensure effective shift handovers by clearly communicating priorities, issues, and production status
Required Training & Technical Knowledge
General safety, housekeeping, and quality standards
Defect identification and escalation procedures
PE pipe coiling, unloading, and gasket installation
Extrusion troubleshooting and mold block setup
Measurement techniques (wall thickness, O.D., ovality)
Use of precision tools (micrometers, calipers, O.D. tape)
Material blending and purge procedures
Reliable transportation required
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proven supervisory experience including training, coaching, and performance management
Solid understanding of manufacturing safety and quality practices
Experience with Lean manufacturing, OSHA 10, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies preferred
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift
Frequent lifting of 40–50 lbs
Ability to handle and stack coils up to six feet high
Frequent manual handling of materials and equipment
Work Environment & PPE
Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and moving machinery
Variable temperatures depending on conditions and equipment
Steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, and hearing protection required
