About the role.
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing daily manufacturing operations within a potato processing facility to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role provides direct supervision to production employees, coordinates workflows across processing and packaging operations, and ensures production targets, quality standards, food safety requirements, and regulatory compliance are consistently achieved.
The Production Supervisor plays a key role in driving operational excellence by managing staffing, coaching and developing team members, monitoring process performance, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and engagement. This position also supports OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements associated with ammonia refrigeration systems and promotes compliance with all related operating procedures and emergency response protocols.
What you'll be doing.
- Lead daily production operations and provide direction, coaching, and support to production teams.
- Manage staffing assignments and workforce utilization to meet production schedules and operational goals.
- Monitor production output, line efficiency, product quality, and process performance to ensure targets are achieved.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, HACCP, GMP, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
- Train, coach, and cross-train employees to build technical capability, operational flexibility, and workforce continuity.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, including adherence to PPE requirements, LOTO procedures, and safe work practices.
- Coordinate equipment setup, product changeovers, troubleshooting activities, and collaboration with maintenance and quality teams.
- Identify and reduce downtime, waste, inefficiencies, and production losses through proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Complete production reporting, documentation, and shift communication to ensure operational alignment and consistency.
- Support OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements, including participation in Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) activities, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and ammonia emergency response awareness.
What you'll need to be successful.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Business, Biology, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in food manufacturing, food processing, agricultural processing, or a related production environment.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred.
- Experience within potato processing or agricultural manufacturing environments is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, quality systems, food safety programs, HACCP, and GMP requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, develop, and hold employees accountable for performance.
- Strong communication, collaboration, conflict resolution, and team-building skills.
- Ability to analyze operational issues, make sound decisions, and drive continuous improvement.
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and experience supporting Process Safety Management (PSM) programs is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including extended hours during peak production periods.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including standing, walking, lifting up to 40 pounds, climbing stairs or ladders, bending, crouching, and working in a manufacturing environment.
Compensation Package: Salary range $70,000 - 80,000 USD annually+ bonus eligibility
