Job Description

The Gould School of Law is seeking to hire a Program Administrator for the Center for Sports, Entertainment, Media and Technology Law (the "SEMT Center"). This position will report directly to the Executive Director of the SEMT Center. Formed in 2025, the SEMT Center aims to be the country's foremost legal home for the study of sports, entertainment, media and technology, and offers classes, events, educational opportunities and guidance for students in these important industries. In addition, the Center serves as a conduit between Gould and the many alumni and professionals working in these industries. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: Master's degree.

  • Preferred Experience: 3 years

  • Preferred Field of Expertise: General business or project management, preferably in an environment where the applicant needed to communicate and manage across multiple departments and/or groups of people. Preference given to those who have worked in entertainment and/or sports.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Manage events and initiatives of the SEMT Center, such as seminars, symposia, panels, board meetings, student networking opportunities, and other activities.

  • Help the Executive Director create, oversee and maintain new programs and activities within the SEMT Center's mandate.

  • Manage student fellows and researchers who work with the SEMT Center.

  • Act as a primary communicator with students, alumni and industry professionals.

  • Collaborate, consult and communicate with other Gould and university departments as needed.

  • Help the Executive Director as well as Gould's Development team to establish and maintain relationships with potential donors.

  • Produce status reports, presentations, memos, budgets and other work product of the Center.

  • Perform routine administrative work, such as maintaining multiple calendars, preparing expense reports, answering routine questions and maintaining the SEMT Center offices.

  • Assist the Executive Director with preparing materials for classes that he teaches and events where makes presentations.

  • Assist with both final exam administration and proctoring at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters and commencement each year.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

  • A "customer service" oriented attitude and personality.

  • Advanced technical skills, especially in the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, Google Products and other common apps and software platforms.

  • Interest in and experience with the business of entertainment and/or sports.

The annual base salary range for this position is $88,006.08 - $100,368.48. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

Minimum Experience: 3 years

Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related professional experience in area of program specialization.
