Program Coordinator & Faculty, School of Nursing/PN Program

Rasmussen University

Ft. Myers, FL

The Program Coordinator and Faculty School of Nursing (SON) is responsible for promoting and supporting the vision and mission of the nursing program at the University while teaching courses in a variety of modalities Teaching duties may include being assigned up to 3 work unites per quarter. Program Coordinators duties will focus on the following areas:

  • Programmatic & Academic leadership & ownership
  • Teaching Effectiveness
  • Student Outreach and Support

Responsibilities:

Program Coordinators will teach up to 3 work units (approximately 15-20 contact hours) per academic quarter. Additional duties include:

Programmatic & Academic Leadership

  • Serves as the key programmatic leader on campus in the defined programmatic area and provides programmatic expertise for students, staff, and faculty
  • Assists the Dean of Nursing (Area Dean or Associate Dean of Nursing), and programmatic faculty in planning, implementing, and evaluating the curricula
  • Actively represents the University to students, professional organizations, partners, and other relevant constituencies within the communities
  • Monitors and reports programmatic metrics such as external and internal learning outcomes, enrollment and retention, and graduate placement rates
  • Participates in strategic planning and implementation of programmatic activities and events, especially as related to academic matters; reviews and supports academic policies
  • Assists with programmatic professional development for faculty, including programmatic new faculty orientation/onboarding
  • Supports the Dean of Nursing in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of programmatic faculty members, participate in the interview process if requested
  • Prepares various reports and submit them to the Dean of Nursing
  • Supports attainment of programmatic start, retention, and placement goals
  • Participates in licensing and accreditation process
  • Attends University functions (Community involvement activities, graduation ceremonies, and various campus-based activities
  • Builds community relationships to support programmatic outcomes
  • Assists with gaining clinical partnerships and visits clinical sites, as needed

Programmatic & Academic Ownership

  • Provides academic advising and counseling to students
  • Responds in a timely and appropriate manner to all student, faculty, and leadership requests for information and/or guidance
  • Supports University, community, and national partnerships that foster educational goals and programmatic outcomes
  • Develops networks, collaborations, and partnerships to enhance the University's influence within the academic community
  • Collaborates with faculty and student support personnel (i.e. Career Services, Admissions, Student Affairs, Student Finance) to assure delivery of superior student service

Reporting Relationships:

The Program Coordinator, SON reports to either the Area Dean of Nursing, Dean of Nursing, or Associate Dean of Nursing based upon the designated locations staffing model.

Requirements:

  • PN program requires a Bachelor's in Nursing. MSN or Doctorate Preferred

  • Teaching experience highly desired

  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with students, leadership, and peers

  • Excellent written communication and strong verbal communication skills in the English language

  • Faculty will need regular access to a computer with the following system requirements

  • Windows XP or greater

  • Microsoft Office 2010

  • An internet connection
