Program Coordinator

Starting Pay: $19.00+ per hour DOE

Location: Rapid City YMCA

Shift: Typically 40 hours per week. Occasional weekends and overtime when approved.

The Rapid City YMCA is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Program Coordinator to lead our sports programs, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and safety. As the Program Coordinator, you will have a key leadership role, working closely with the Branch Manager to foster a vibrant, welcoming environment that embodies the YMCA's mission of strengthening the community. Your responsibilities will span across staff development, program management, member engagement, and risk management, all while upholding our core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

In this role, you will oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision of staff, coaches, and volunteers, ensuring they embody the YMCA's culture of positivity and are equipped to serve as role models for our members. Maintaining a strong connection with our members is a core aspect of the position. You will cultivate relationships with new and existing members, making sure their experience at the YMCA is welcoming, supportive, and aligned with our mission of personal growth and community engagement.

Managing a variety of programs will also be key, from organizing sports events and training volunteers to ensuring that all registration processes are handled efficiently and that schedules are communicated clearly. You will work with the Branch Manager to guarantee that facilities are ready for use by participants, ensuring they are safe, clean, and welcoming. Risk management is critical in maintaining a safe environment for our community. You will be responsible for keeping public and storage areas clean and tidy, overseeing the proper use of equipment, and ensuring that emergency responses are handled quickly and in line with established protocols.

In addition to managing programs, you will also oversee facility rentals, providing event coordination and managing member relations to ensure each event is a success. Your role will include overseeing event setup, communicating with staff, and coordinating vendors, contributing to the growth of this department by improving service quality.

You will also have a hand in fiscal management, monitoring budgets, and ensuring program income and expenses align with financial goals. Keeping accurate records of registrations and attendance will be a vital part of your role, ensuring that all data is up to date and well-organized.

The ideal candidate for this position will be at least 18 years old, in good physical condition, and have the ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. A YMCA Group Exercise Instructor certification is required or must be acquired within six months of employment. You should have CPR and First Aid Certification (or be willing to obtain it within 60 days of employment) and demonstrate a positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for the YMCA's mission.
