Program Manager, Decarbonization Services Hybrid position ideally located in Connecticut

Want to join a company that does good for the world? Do you care about the work you do and its impact on the future of our planet? Do you want caring coworkers and a good work/life balance? Join the Abode Energy Management (Abode) team, where you won’t ever want to leave. We’re fun, kind, passionate, progressive, and innovative. We are a fast-growing energy efficiency program implementor in the northeast, focusing on electrification and heat pump adoption.

Summary/Objective

Abode has a growing line of business for utilities and government agencies throughout New England to help accelerate the adoption of decarbonization measures (such as air-source heat pumps) by providing outreach, education, consultations, and technical assistance to contractors, homeowners, community advocates, and other stakeholders. Abode is piloting and scaling cutting-edge decarbonization programs that require understanding and navigating the interests of multiple stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in the energy efficiency industry and a strong background in program management to play a role in scaling innovative programs that help realize the climate impacts of decarbonization in the residential building sector.

Responsibilities

The Program Manager (“PM”) will report to the Senior Program Manager and work closely with Abode’s decarbonization team. The PM will provide day-to-day management of one or more programs, overseeing operations, managing staff, coordinating with partners, and ensuring the timely achievement of program objectives. The PM will play a critical role in helping to extract lessons and solutions from the work done to solve day-to-day issues.

This position will include some or all of the following responsibilities.

  • Working closely with Abode senior staff, the PM will serve as the main point of communication with clients, partners, and stakeholders, including leading recurring meetings
  • Overseeing staff’s day-to-day work, short terms assignments, and long-term projects
  • Developing goals for program staff, to meet evolving program needs and to offer consistent professional development opportunities
  • Creating or updating plans and documentation to meet evolving needs
  • Maintaining databases as required for the program
  • Maintaining program budgets and financials
  • Troubleshooting and resolving program issues, barriers, and setbacks
  • Coordinating contractor and partner trainings
  • Ensuring customer journey and data coordination between program stakeholders
  • Reporting on program milestones and results
  • Creating and presenting program findings
  • Creating professional reports summarizing program performance, methodologies, goals, and lessons learned
  • Creating case studies and blogs
  • Completing one-off projects, research, and analysis

 Qualifications

Strong candidates for this position will bring most, if not all, of the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in and knowledge of energy program design obtained through work in utility energy efficiency programs, government, quasi-government, energy policy, or other related businesses. Experience working with air source heat pumps or other decarbonization technologies used to reduce the climate impact of homes is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with navigating government or utility incentive programs.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and tasks appropriately balancing high-level objectives and attention to critical details.
  • Strong, effective oral and written communication skills; both 1:1 and in group presentations. Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese as well as English would be a plus.
  • Aptitude to quickly learn and work with software such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Salesforce. Comfortable with financial management and budgeting.
  • Adaptable, flexible, collaborative team player with a positive can-do attitude.
  • A self-starter, able to anticipate and overcome obstacles as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position with a total compensation targeted between $85,000 and $110,000, depending on relevant skills and experience. The PM will work primarily out of the employee’s home office or attend meetings as needed in Abode’s Concord MA office or offices of partners and stakeholders.  Abode offers its employees a competitive benefits package, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability Insurance, a matching 401k, and fully paid Parental Leave.  Employees have a flexible working schedule and generous paid time off (~37 paid days off, or ~15% of all weekdays).
