Job Description

Working in our Portfolio Steering Tribe

Our most important strategic programs are big, long and complex. A typical program runs for three to five years, reaches across several business, IT and network tribes, and depends on close work with our strategic partners in each domain. Programs like these rarely fail for lack of a plan - they stall on dependencies, competing priorities and handovers between teams. Someone has to take them through their full lifecycle, keep the delivery moving, steer the decisions that unlock progress, and make sure the promised value actually lands.

That someone is you!

As Program Manager, you own the delivery of our key strategic programs from start to finish. You keep value flowing: planning and steering the work, resolving dependencies across a matrix organization, driving steering committees to their value milestones, and co-creating with the strategic partners who deliver alongside us. This is a role with real impact - you are the person who turns multi-year ambition into delivered outcomes.

Your role as Program Manager

  • Run programs end to end. Take complex, multi-year strategic programs (typically three to five years) through their full lifecycle - from mobilization and planning to delivery and close - across multiple business, IT and network tribes. This is classical, full-cycle program management.
  • Plan and control delivery. Build and maintain the program plan, budget, milestones and RAID (risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies); track the critical path and keep delivery on course.
  • Prioritize for value. Apply strong prioritization and value-delivery discipline - deciding what to start, stop and sequence so the program delivers the outcomes that matter most, not just activity.
  • Give clear visibility. Provide transparent, decision-ready reporting on progress, health and value for program teams and senior leadership.
  • Keep the program moving. Anticipate and clear blockers and speed breakers, manage escalations, and keep cross-functional teams aligned and unblocked.

What you will also take on as Program Manager

Beyond running the program, you connect and steer everyone the program depends on. Concretely, you will:

  • Navigate the matrix. Work across a matrix organization to solve for dependencies and operating-model challenges between tribes and domains, so the program can move as one.
  • Own and drive the steercos. Own and facilitate the steering committees - bringing the right topics and decisions to the table and steering the program to its value milestones.
  • Steer and co-create with strategic partners. Steer and co-create with our strategic partners in each domain, aligning their delivery closely with the program's goals.
  • Follow and help shape delivery governance. Work within - and help improve - our business and agile delivery governance so that it supports, rather than slows, program delivery.

As Program Manager, your job is to keep value flowing on programs where the biggest risk is not the plan but the friction between the many teams and partners involved. Your impact comes less from formal authority and more from your ability to spot where work is about to get stuck, clear the way, and bring people to a decision. Comfort with complexity, changing priorities and a degree of ambiguity is essential.

Your profile as Program Manager

  • A strong track record in program and project management, ideally in a large or complex organization
  • Around 8-10 years of relevant experience, including complex, multi-year, cross-functional programs
  • Solid command of full-cycle delivery and governance - stage-gate as well as agile / hybrid ways of working (PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe or equivalent is a plus)
  • Proven prioritization and value-delivery skills - you focus effort on what creates the most value
  • Skilled at navigating a matrix organization and resolving dependencies and operating-model challenges
  • Confident owning and steering steering committees and other senior decision forums
  • Experience steering and co-creating with external or strategic delivery partners
  • Comfortable with complexity, changing priorities and some ambiguity
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder-management skills
  • High personal credibility and a bridge-builder mindset
