The Program Manager - NPI (Manufacturing Engineering) is responsible for leading cross‑functional execution of new product introductions from development through volume production. This role partners closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and external manufacturing partners to ensure new products are launched on time, within cost targets, and meet quality and performance requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong program management discipline with deep manufacturing knowledge and a proactive, problem‑solving mindset.

Key Responsibilities

NPI Program Leadership

  • Own end‑to‑end manufacturing execution for new product introductions, from concept release through ramp to full production.

  • Develop, manage, and communicate integrated NPI schedules, milestones, and deliverables.

  • Drive disciplined phase‑gate or milestone‑based NPI processes.

Cross‑Functional Coordination

  • Serve as the primary manufacturing interface between Product Development, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Test.

  • Lead cross‑functional meetings to track progress, manage risks, and resolve issues.

  • Ensure alignment between design intent and manufacturing capabilities (DFM/DFA).

Manufacturing Readiness

  • Define and track manufacturing readiness plans including tooling, equipment, process development, capacity, and staffing.

  • Coordinate pilot builds, engineering builds, and production validation builds.

  • Identify and mitigate manufacturing risks early in the development cycle.

Cost, Schedule, and Risk Management

  • Own manufacturing cost targets and support should‑cost analysis and cost‑reduction initiatives.

  • Identify schedule and supply chain risks; develop mitigation and recovery plans.

  • Escalate issues appropriately with clear data‑driven recommendations.

Process Improvement & Standardization

  • Continuously improve NPI processes, templates, and metrics to improve speed, quality, and predictability of launches.

  • Capture lessons learned and ensure best practices are applied to future programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related technical field

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, NPI, program management, or operations leadership

  • Proven experience leading cross‑functional teams in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chains, and quality systems

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems

  • Experience with phase‑gate NPI processes, APQP, or similar frameworks

  • PMP or similar program management certification
