Job Description

Job Summary

Project ADAM (Automated Defibrillators in Adam's Memory) is a not-for-profit organization within the Nicklaus Children's Heart Institute. Project ADAM's goals are to support schools with the implementation of coordinated CPR and AED programs. The Project ADAM Program Coordinator will work with the Project ADAM Director, school nurses, community partners, and key program stakeholders to implement and evaluate Project ADAM program activities and provide oversight and coordination of the Heart Safe School designation program.

Job Specific Duties

  • Develops relationships with school nurses, community emergency medical services, and other community healthcare and education partners.
  • Develops, monitors, and maintains schedule of classes, educators, attendees, materials, supplies, etc.
  • Trains school personnel on basic life support or hands-only CPR and how to use AED machines.
  • Complies with hospital safety regulations and infection control policies.
  • Exhibits guiding behaviors that reflect Nicklaus Children's Hospital values and supports our mission and vision.
  • Works in conjunction with our Foundation, Marketing and Community outreach departments.
  • Educates and mentors school nurses in developing and maintaining school CPR and AED programs.
  • Markets, implements, and evaluates the Project ADAM Heart Safe School designation program in South FL.
  • Coordinates Project ADAM data collection efforts and supports national data collection best practices and is aligned with current cardiac emergency preparedness evidence-based standards.
  • Actively involved in program quality and process improvement initiatives and supports development of Project ADAM related publications.
  • Manages individual and organizational volunteer program activities statewide.
  • Maintains educational materials for use by Project ADAM constituents locally.
  • Disseminates Project ADAM communication and newsletters to South FL partners.
  • Compiles, prepares, and presents quarterly and annual progress reports of Project ADAM South FL activities to the Project ADAM team.
  • Promotes and maintains collaborative relationships with key program stakeholders locally and nationally.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • EMT or Paramedic - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • American Heart Association BLS maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • CPR/AED/First Aid instructor certification required within 6 months of hire - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment within 6 months of hire
  • 1-3 years of experience working with a community health agency, school or hospital system.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Associates degree in education, healthcare, business or related field preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Sharepoint.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform competently and efficiently in crisis situations.
  • Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, and co-workers.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and attentiveness to detail required.
  • Ability to set and communicate priorities, effectively planning and organizing the work of the group.
