Job Description

The Project and Continuous Improvement Leader, Supply Chain Operational Excellence will support and drive continuous improvement initiatives across Celanese’s Engineered Materials (EM) business. This role manages a portfolio of cross‑functional projects that enhance end‑to‑end (E2E) supply chain performance, strengthen global S&OP processes, and improve organizational effectiveness. 

Will lead a team of project managers and continuous improvement practitioners, support S&OP transformation programs, and help execute key network, footprint, and digital enablement initiatives. This role requires strong collaboration across regions and functions, ensuring alignment between strategic priorities and day‑to‑day execution. It is a broad, hands-on leadership role with visibility across the global supply chain organization. 

Responsibilities:

    • Team Leadership- Lead, coach, and develop a team of project managers and continuous improvement professionals (Lean/Six Sigma).
    • Operational Excellence Culture- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and structured problem-solving. 
    • Capability Building- Support the development of Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence capabilities across the organization. 
    • Project & Portfolio Management- Manage and prioritize a global portfolio of strategic and operational excellence initiatives.
    • Transformation Support- Lead and support cross functional transformation projects, including:
      • E2E supply chain optimization
      • Network and inventory strategy improvements
      • Digital and system enablement initiatives
      • Root Cause Analysis- Identify systemic issues and drive structured root‑cause resolution. 
    • Cross Functional Collaboration- Partner with leaders across Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Commercial, Finance, IT, and Customer Experience. 
    • Global Process Alignment- Support cross regional initiatives to harmonize best practices and deploy scalable solutions.
    • Governance & Reporting- Provide structure, tracking, and transparency for major programs to ensure delivery on time, within scope, and with measurable value.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or related discipline 

  • 10–12+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Operations, with progressive leadership responsibilities. 5+ years direct people leadership experience preferred.

  • Experience supporting or leading S&OP process improvements at regional or global scale. 

  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross functional teams and collaborate with senior stakeholders. 

  • Strong background in project/program management and continuous improvement. 

  • Strong knowledge of ERP and planning systems (SAP, IBP, MES, Blue Yonder, or similar). 

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into insights. 

  • Strong communication and relationship building skills across global teams. 

Preferred Skills & Experience 

  • Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent Lean expertise. 

  • APICS certification (CSCP or CPIM). 

  • Experience with IBP/SAP planning and advanced planning tools. 

  • Experience working in global, matrixed organizations. 

  • Strong understanding of E2E supply chain dynamics in a manufacturing environment.
