Job Summary:

The Project Controller is the owner of project financial performance with full accountability for reporting accuracy and margin delivery across the project portfolio. This role leads the project accounting team and serves as a critical business partner to all departments by driving financial discipline, consistency, transparency, and execution from quote through closeout. The Project Controller provides leadership with clear, actionable insights on performance, risks, and opportunities. This role is expected to proactively challenge assumptions, enforce accountability, and continuously improve processes in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Job Duties:

  • Own all project financial reporting by delivering timely reports with clear drivers, risks, and actions
  • Develop and lead the project accounting team establishing a high-performance culture with clear ownership, rigor, and accountability
  • Partner with project management team to actively manage performance, challenge variances, and drive corrective actions to safeguard quoted margins
  • Ensure full communication loop of project performance and actions throughout the organization including estimating, project management, engineering, and operations
  • Own data integrity across systems ensuring reports are consistent, reliable, and actionable
  • Lead project-related month-end close including WIP and revenue recognition reconciliations
  • Drive contract and change order discipline ensuring contract and audit support compliance
  • Partner with project teams to ensure accurate and timely billing and collections
  • Present clear, concise project updates to senior leadership including risks, gaps, and recovery plans
  • Drive continuous improvement in tools, reporting, and processes to support scale and growth
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or CFO

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
  • Five plus years of leading project or cost accounting required
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail required
  • Proficiency with ERP and project software required
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to pass physical, drug, driving, and background check required
  • Ability to physically push, pull, and lift 25lbs or more required
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk for four plus hours at a time required
  • Alignment with company core values required

Requirements

  • Professional certifications such as CPA, PMP, or CIMA preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing or construction accounting preferred
  • Experience with multi-currency and multi-entity project environments preferred
