Job Description

A growing medical manufacturing organization is seeking a Project Engineer / Project Manager to manage customer projects from initial concept through production. This role will work closely with customers, engineering, quality, tooling, and manufacturing teams to ensure projects are completed on time, meet customer requirements, and transition successfully into production.

The ideal candidate has an engineering background with experience in manufacturing, tooling, injection molding, or medical device manufacturing and strong project management and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage customer projects from initial concept through production realization.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers regarding project status, delivery, tooling, and qualification requirements.

  • Coordinate new tooling and mold construction projects to ensure timelines are met.

  • Review mold, tooling, fixture, jig, and gauge designs.

  • Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews for new projects.

  • Facilitate customer meetings and project status reviews.

  • Prepare documentation and information for project quotations.

  • Work closely with Quality to manage product and process qualification activities.

  • Support new equipment, tooling, and facility improvement projects.

  • Provide input on project costs, feasibility, and new mold construction.

  • Develop and implement engineering and manufacturing improvements.

  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, manufacturing, tooling, and production teams.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.

  • Maintain strong relationships with customers and vendors.

  • Ensure projects and manufacturing activities meet applicable quality and regulatory requirements, including ISO 13485.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.

  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment preferred.

  • Project management experience preferred.

  • Experience with precision injection molding or process engineering is a plus.

  • Knowledge of plastic injection molding processes, particularly for medical devices, is a plus.

  • Experience in medical device manufacturing and product/process qualification is preferred.

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks is desired.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety and OSHA practices preferred.

  • Spanish/English bilingual skills are a plus.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an organized, technically minded engineer who enjoys managing projects and working directly with customers. This person should be comfortable coordinating multiple projects, communicating across departments, reviewing tooling and mold designs, and helping move products from development into production.
