The Montana Department of Corrections is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Management Specialist to lead and oversee a diverse range of IT related projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and ensuring public safety. As a Project Management Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in planning, executing, and monitoring projects to successful completion, while collaborating with internal personnel and external consultants. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining project quality, adhering to program standards, and managing change control processes.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing multiple projects concurrently, ensuring that project plans are effectively implemented and executed. Your proactive approach to directing and reviewing project work plans, monitoring workflows, and identifying potential risks will be instrumental in maintaining project timelines and mitigating challenges. You will provide insightful analysis of project performance by comparing baseline results, identifying trends, and recommending corrective actions when discrepancies arise. You will report project status updates and decision support information to both the project team and management. Additionally, you will represent the project team in interactions with departmental management, external agencies, vendors, and other stakeholders, serving as a key liaison to ensure project success.

QUALIFICATIONS
The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, project management, or related field
Two years of experience managing projects
Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
