Job Description:

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking a Project Management Supervisor- Natural Gas for a HYBRID or REMOTE WORK role to support our Natural Gas Design Group in Hammond, IN. Applicants must possess Natural Gas or Utility experience. Highly preferred for Natural Gas Downstream Experience; from gate station/point of delivery to the customer sites and everything in between.

This position will directly lead a project management team supporting projects within the client's natural gas distribution process, support data analytics, creation of notifications, work orders, invoicing, and financial reports utilizing enterprise resource planning software. In addition to leading the team, the person will also be managing their own portfolio.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the project management team in the planning and organization of project logistics, problem solving, and processes to drive team and ensure full team engagement and successful project delivery.
  • Lead projects with overall accountability for scope, finances, schedule, task tracker, document control, and consistent communication with varying degrees of complexity and risk.
  • Responsible for obtaining complete project scope definition and develop Proposal with assistance of project team.
  • Develop communication plan and ensure appropriate levels of communication with stakeholders.
  • Manage project scope, budget, and schedule for projects and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget constraints.
  • Serve as primary point of contact with client for planning, RFP, scope management, finances, contracts, RFI/CO, and schedules.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations for project delivery, facilitates transparency and adaptation, and communicate how projects drive value for the business.
  • Apply organization and leadership skills to ensure internal and external resources work together to meet project objectives.
  • Develops/manages project budget as well as approval of invoices, vendor proposals, scope revisions, etc. Develop project forecasts and revises project budgets and forecasts as necessary.
  • Ensure systems of record(s) are updated with project notes, accounting information, billing information, billable status, etc.
  • Creates, delivers, and implements project change approach, strategy, and plan.
  • Track and manage risks, issues log, and lessons learned in addition to implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Completes quality assurance practices on team deliverables to validate high quality.
  • Develop, maintain, and upgrade project management SOPS to be used on specific projects, as well as centralized basis and historical references.
  • Responsible for managing and evaluating change orders and scope deviation
  • Frequently communicates with Client(s) to best determine the most cost-effective solution for their project
  • Provides timely and detailed documentation and support to Orbital accounting functions for ensuring projects are on budget and appropriately accounted

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Project Management or related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Experience with natural gas downstream operations, engineering, and/or construction activities
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills and a minimum of 5 years of project management experience
  • Project Management Training, MBA, and/or PMP Certification a plus.
  • Experience in managing multiple field-based team members assigned to projects with competing priorities while maintaining schedule and budget
  • Ability to read and understand simple to complex construction schedules, and use such as a tool to forecast and project labor, construction, and material delivery activities
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawing/schematics
  • Ability to negotiate and develop relationships with current and new clients or contracting parties
  • Successful candidate must have exceptional analytical and decision-making skills, the ability to communicate with all level of the organization
  • Skills required for this role include but are not limited to being detail-oriented, strong organization skills and excellent written as well as verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining an effective team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software applications
  • Must have dependable transportation and a valid driver's license with insurance
  • Familiar with Safe Work Practices and PPE applications
  • Ability to work from home & an office setting, as required
  • This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and is also subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.

Location Note:

This is a remote or hybrid position. Compensation is based on market data and internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's location.

Salary Range:

$110,000-150,000 annually (based on experience, qualifications, and location)
