Job Description

We are seeking an experienced A/E Project Manager to lead architecture and engineering projects from initial kickoff through design, permitting, construction, and final project delivery.

This is a hands-on project leadership role with ownership of scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, coordination, risk management, and client relationships. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams and serve as a primary point of contact for clients while ensuring projects remain aligned with contractual requirements, design objectives, budgets, and deadlines.

The ideal candidate has experience working within an architecture, engineering, or multidisciplinary design firm and can confidently manage projects through multiple phases while identifying issues early, driving accountability, and keeping architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and clients aligned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture and engineering projects from project kickoff through design, permitting, construction administration, and final delivery.
  • Take ownership of project scope, schedule, budget, milestones, deliverables, and overall project performance.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, work plans, and milestone tracking.
  • Lead and coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and other multidisciplinary project team members.
  • Establish priorities, assign responsibilities, and maintain accountability across project teams.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively follow up on outstanding deliverables, decisions, approvals, and action items.
  • Identify scope gaps, design conflicts, coordination issues, schedule risks, and potential budget impacts early in the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve design, technical, permitting, and construction-related issues.
  • Manage workflows across architectural, engineering, permitting, bidding, and construction phases.
  • Coordinate design reviews, client presentations, milestone submissions, permitting activities, and construction-phase services.
  • Communicate directly with clients, provide regular project updates, address concerns, and manage expectations throughout the project.
  • Monitor project requirements and deliverables to ensure compliance with contracts, codes, client objectives, and project standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors and construction teams during construction administration to resolve project issues and maintain project momentum.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, meeting records, schedules, budgets, and status reports.
  • Provide leadership with regular updates regarding project progress, risks, budget, schedule, and outstanding decisions.
  • Contribute to improving project management processes, workflows, documentation standards, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing architecture, engineering, or multidisciplinary design projects from kickoff through permitting and construction.
  • Required: Experience working within an architecture, engineering, or multidisciplinary professional design firm.
  • Demonstrated ownership of project scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, risk, and client relationships.
  • Proven experience leading architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong understanding of architectural and engineering design workflows, permitting processes, construction documentation, and construction-phase coordination.
  • Experience managing projects through multiple phases of design and delivery.
  • Ability to identify scope conflicts, design coordination issues, schedule risks, and budget concerns and drive them toward resolution.
  • Strong client-facing communication and relationship-management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and project leadership abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, budgets, and milestones simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of contracts, project deliverables, and professional services environments.
  • Direct project management and project delivery experience is required. Candidates whose experience is primarily project coordination, administrative support, or scheduling will not meet the requirements.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Health insurance options.
  • Retirement plan options.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Professional development and continuing education opportunities.
  • Opportunity to lead diverse architecture and engineering projects.
  • Collaborative, multidisciplinary professional environment.
