Project Manager

Job Summary:

Canal is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead large-scale, cross-functional transformation initiatives within our Claims organization and across the enterprise. This role will focus on delivering complex business and technology initiatives that modernize workflows, enhance operational efficiency, improve customer experience, and strengthen data-driven decision-making. The Project Manager will work closely with business leaders, IT, Data, Compliance, Finance, and external partners to drive successful outcomes from concept through stabilization. This position reports to the Director, Enterprise Project Management.

Major Accountabilities:

End-to-End Project Leadership

  • Lead complex, multi-workstream initiatives from initiation through implementation and operational handoff.
  • Develop integrated project plans that align scope, schedule, resources, budget, and dependencies.
  • Manage shifting priorities and evolving requirements while maintaining alignment to strategic objectives.
  • Ensure successful adoption and measurable business outcomes.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with business stakeholders to define future-state processes and operational improvements.
  • Collaborate with IT, data, security, compliance, and external vendors to deliver technology-enabled solutions.
  • Facilitate workshops, decision forums, and stakeholder alignment sessions.
  • Drive clarity on roles, responsibilities, and accountability across teams.

Financial & Vendor Oversight

  • Develop and manage project budgets and forecasts.
  • Coordinate with procurement and vendor management on SOWs, timelines, and delivery milestones.
  • Monitor capital and expense tracking in partnership with Finance.
  • Support benefits realization tracking and value measurement.

Risk, Governance & Executive Reporting

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to scope, integration complexity, resource constraints, and change readiness.
  • Maintain RAID logs, milestone reporting, and executive-level dashboards.
  • Prepare materials for steering committees and leadership reviews.
  • Escalate issues early and drive resolution.

Change Management & Adoption

  • Develop structured communication and change plans to support impacted teams.
  • Coordinate training, pilot programs, and phased rollouts.
  • Monitor adoption metrics and operational performance post-implementation.
  • Ensure smooth transition to long-term operational ownership.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 8+ years of project or program management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex software implementation or operational transformation initiatives.
  • Experience working in insurance, financial services, or other regulated environments preferred.
  • Experience managing vendor-supported implementations preferred.
  • PMP, CAPM, Lean, or similar certification preferred.

Technical & Tool Experience:

  • Experience with enterprise project management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, MS Project, Monday.com, Asana, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Agile and hybrid delivery models.
  • Strong proficiency in presentation and reporting tools.

Special Considerations

  • Physical Requirements: Constant use of vision, hearing, and communication (oral and written in person and via telephone).  Frequent concentration, standing, walking, handling, reaching, and grasping.  Occasional bending, kneeling and lifting (up to 25 lbs.).  Heavy use of computer and office equipment.
  • Additional Requirements:  Occasional travel may be required.  Periodic work outside of standard business hours or on weekends may be required.
