Position Title:

Project Manager – Sterile Processing Services

Location:

On-siteMichael E. DeBakey VA Medical CenterHouston, TX

Employment Type:

Full-Time, On-Site

Schedule:

Sunday–Saturday oversight
Variable hours
24/7 availability via phone
On-site during standard operations
Alternate PM required during absence

Position Summary:

The Project Manager serves as the Contractor’s single point of contact and is responsible for managing all sterile processing services, personnel oversight, compliance, quality control, reporting, and coordination with the VA COR.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage all contract personnel
Ensure 24/7 coverage
Oversee quality control program
Submit monthly status reports
Conduct shift inspections
Coordinate vendor training
Maintain training records & certifications
Respond to COR within 30 minutes in emergencies
Implement repair-reduction strategies
Monitor AQL compliance
Manage staffing plan & contingency pool

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
Extensive SPS experience
Strong communication skills
Experience in hospital sterile processing
Knowledge of AAMI, AQL, IFU standards
Ability to manage 24/7 operations
Level 1 VA SPS Certification (within 90 days)

Certifications:

Preferred:

HSPA Certification
CPSPD Certification

Required:

VA SPS Level 1 (within 90 days)
NACI clearance
PIV eligibility

Physical Requirements:

Ability to walk facility daily
Exposure to hospital environment
Standing for extended periods
