Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a background in Water/Wastewater, concrete, or heavy civil construction. The ideal candidate will have experience managing or supporting complex civil infrastructure projects, including significant self-perform work.
The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing medium-sized civil construction projects from start to finish. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with contract requirements and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide full contract administration, technical oversight, and operational support for assigned projects.
Develop and implement the project safety plan, leading by example to promote a strong health and safety culture.
Ensure construction activities align with project design, budget, schedule, quality standards, and resource plans.
Understand client objectives and proactively recommend value engineering solutions to improve functionality, cost efficiency, and scheduling outcomes.
Monitor and manage project performance, delivering regular reports on safety, cost forecasting, and schedule status.
Negotiate and issue subcontracts, major purchase orders, and progress payments while tracking vendor and subcontractor performance.
Interpret, communicate, and enforce contract terms and project documentation.
Lead and coordinate project closeout activities to ensure successful completion.
Identify, assess, and manage project risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
Design-Build Projects (if applicable)
Monitor design progress for compliance, quality, coordination, constructability, and timely delivery.
Support the project lead in developing and maintaining comprehensive design management and quality plans.
Conduct periodic quality audits to ensure adherence to project standards.
Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders, proactively addressing opportunities and challenges while managing expectations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
4+ years of progressive construction experience; leadership and mentoring experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to promote and implement a strong safety culture aligned with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, specifications, building codes, construction law, and quality management practices.
Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills, including experience managing budgets and schedules.
Ability to identify and manage risks and opportunities effectively.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and decision-makers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management/scheduling software, with a strong aptitude for learning new technologies.
