Job Description

Position Overview

I’m partnering with an established heavy civil contractor that has been serving the Western Oregon market for over four decades. They are looking to add an experienced Project Manager / Estimator to their excavation division.

This position will be responsible for estimating and managing civil construction projects from initial bid through final completion. The ideal candidate has a strong background in excavation, earthwork, underground utilities, grading, and civil site work and understands both the estimating and operational sides of heavy civil construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates for excavation and heavy civil projects
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, grading, utilities, and site development
  • Review plans, specifications, and bid documents
  • Develop labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor pricing
  • Manage awarded projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets
  • Track job costs, production, forecasting, and project profitability
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and documentation
  • Coordinate closely with Superintendents and field crews
  • Maintain relationships with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Project Management and/or Estimating experience in heavy civil construction
  • Strong experience with excavation, earthwork, grading, underground utilities, and civil site work
  • Experience estimating and managing public and private civil projects
  • Oregon/Pacific Northwest construction experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret civil plans and specifications
  • Strong understanding of equipment, crew production, and heavy civil construction methods
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
