Job Description

Summary

Our client is an established Southern California general contractor and electrical contractor with more than 30 years of experience delivering complex construction projects throughout California and select projects in Arizona. Their work spans private and public sectors, including manufacturing, aerospace, municipal, education, healthcare, and other commercial and industrial environments. They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee large-scale construction projects from preconstruction through completion. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven Project Manager from a reputable general contractor who has successfully managed complex projects and is looking to join a company with deep expertise in both general construction and electrical contracting.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage construction projects from preconstruction through final completion and closeout.
  • Take ownership of project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and overall execution.
  • Coordinate closely with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Lead project planning, procurement, scheduling, and coordination activities.
  • Review project plans, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and other construction documents.
  • Coordinate subcontractor and vendor activities to ensure work is completed according to project requirements.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, material procurement, and project documentation.
  • Monitor project schedules and proactively identify potential delays, conflicts, and risks.
  • Work with field Superintendents and project teams to resolve construction, scheduling, and coordination issues.
  • Review project costs, commitments, and financial performance to help maintain projects within budget.
  • Participate in owner, architect, contractor, and project coordination meetings.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Support estimating and preconstruction teams with project handoff, scope review, and constructability considerations.
  • Assist with project closeout, punch lists, final documentation, and turnover.
  • Ensure projects are executed in accordance with applicable safety requirements, building codes, contract requirements, and company standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in commercial, industrial, institutional, or large-scale construction.
  • Experience working for a reputable General Contractor, Construction Manager, or Electrical Contractor.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale and technically complex construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, project scheduling, budgeting, contracts, procurement, and subcontractor management.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and schedules.
  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, project documentation, and closeout.
  • Strong financial and organizational skills with the ability to monitor project budgets and costs.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, Superintendents, and field personnel.
  • Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore and Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Electrical construction experience is preferred but not required for candidates with strong commercial or industrial project management experience.
  • Must be able to work fully onsite in Brea, CA.
  • Ability to travel to project sites throughout Southern California, California, and occasionally Arizona as needed.
