Under the general direction of the Director of Sales, the Project Manager is responsible for overseeing customer orders and leading cross-functional project execution. This role is based at our Paragould, AR location and is a key member of the LA Darling Management Team, supporting and managing projects for Walmart.
We are seeking a disciplined, skilled, and motivated Project Manager who can guide both customers and internal teams through the complexities of project execution while consistently exceeding expectations. The ideal candidate is self-driven, collaborative, influential, and thrives in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Position Responsibilities
- Serve as Project Manager for key customer accounts and provide backup support for additional large customer projects as needed.
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team by presenting key project metrics and offering input on budgets, forecasts, timelines, and strategic decisions.
- Act as the primary external point of contact for Sales and Customer Service, modeling and fostering a culture of customer service excellence.
- Track and analyze performance metrics to ensure achievement of project goals.
- Document and communicate project progress to stakeholders, proactively identifying and addressing potential roadblocks related to forecasts and lead-time expectations.
- Manage all assigned projects from initiation through completion, resolving issues related to suppliers, customers, engineering, and manufacturing as they arise.
- Partner closely with the key account team and operations to ensure final products meet customer requirements.
- Coordinate internal resources and ensure resource availability to deliver projects on time.
- Manage technical and commercial project scope, including resolving issues and processing scope changes while maintaining project timelines.
- Monitor and report project performance to ensure schedules, milestones, and financial commitments are met or exceeded.
- Communicate project status regularly, proactively, and effectively to all stakeholders.
- Follow established project management methodologies and processes.
- Leverage lessons learned and project close-out reviews to identify areas of improvement; lead Monthly Business Reviews for larger initiatives.
- Actively contribute to process improvement and organizational change initiatives.
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
Skills & Abilities
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to shifting priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization and with customers.
- Solid understanding of project management tools, techniques, and best practices.
- Demonstrated success in managing projects and project teams.
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
- Strong financial acumen, technical understanding, organizational, and administrative capabilities.
- Customer-focused, accountable leader with experience delivering successful outcomes.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field; or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management.
- Experience in the retail manufacturing industry strongly preferred.
- Experience with Sage X3 ERP system is a plus.
