With a robust backlog of JOC and K-12 construction work, this General Contractor is continuing to grow its Chicago team and expand its presence across the public education sector. The company has established long-standing relationships with public agencies, school districts, and institutional owners throughout Chicago. This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to take ownership of multiple JOC and K-12 construction projects, working directly with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal construction teams.
Job Description
The Project Manager will oversee JOC and K-12 construction projects throughout Chicago, managing projects from preconstruction through final closeout while ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. Responsibilities include:
- Lead JOC, Chicago Public Schools (CPS), and K-12 construction projects throughout Chicago
- Manage multiple construction projects simultaneously from preconstruction through closeout
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, cost forecasts, and procurement strategies
- Coordinate Superintendents, Project Engineers, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and other construction professionals
- Build and maintain strong relationships with CPS, public agencies, school districts, architects, and owners
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, buyout, and contract administration
- Monitor project financial performance, billing, forecasting, and overall project profitability
- Lead owner and project meetings while providing consistent project updates
- Ensure construction activities meet Chicago public-sector requirements, safety regulations, and quality standards
- Review estimates and support preconstruction and business development efforts
- Manage project closeout, punch lists, warranty, and turnover

The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years of Project Management experience with a General Contractor
- Strong experience with JOC and/or K-12 construction projects
- Experience working on Chicago Public Schools (CPS), public education, municipal, or other public-sector construction projects highly preferred
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling, budgeting, estimating, procurement, and cost control
- Experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project closeout
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar construction software
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with owners, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and internal General Contractor teams
- Chicago construction experience strongly preferred
