Project Manager
- Substation & TransmissionOur client is a leading electric utility focused on delivering reliable, safe, and sustainable energy. The organization is investing in transmission and substation infrastructure upgrades to improve grid reliability, support renewable energy integration, enhance system resiliency, and meet growing energy demands.Job DescriptionProject Leadership & DeliveryManage transmission and substation projects from initiation through commissioning and closeout.Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.Lead project meetings and provide regular status updates to stakeholders and leadership.Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.Drive project governance, reporting, and decision-making processes.Scope, Schedule & Cost ManagementDefine project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.Develop and manage detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent scheduling tools.Track project expenditures, forecasts, cash flow, and earned value metrics.Manage scope changes and ensure proper documentation and approval processes.Identify schedule risks and develop mitigation strategies.Engineering & Construction CoordinationCoordinate with engineering teams on substation design, transmission routing, protection and controls, civil, structural, and electrical design activities.Facilitate design reviews and ensure alignment with utility standards.Support procurement and construction activities throughout the project lifecycle.Coordinate contractor mobilization, field execution, testing, and commissioning activities.Stakeholder & Client ManagementServe as the primary liaison between client stakeholders, engineering teams, regulatory agencies, contractors, and vendors.Build strong working relationships with utility leadership and project stakeholders.Communicate project risks, opportunities, and key decisions effectively.Facilitate stakeholder alignment and issue resolution.Risk, Safety & ComplianceIdentify project risks and maintain risk registers.Support permitting, environmental compliance, and regulatory requirements.Ensure adherence to utility safety standards, OSHA requirements, and company policies.Promote a culture of safety and operational excellence.Contract & Vendor ManagementSupport contract development, bid evaluations, and contractor onboarding.Manage consultant and contractor performance.Review invoices, change orders, and contract modifications.Ensure contractual obligations and deliverables are met.MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. - Substation & Transmission should have:EducationBachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.PMP Certification preferred.Experience5+ years of project management experience within electric utilities, transmission, substation, or power delivery environments.Experience managing capital infrastructure projects from conceptual design through construction and energization.Strong understanding of utility project execution methodologies.Technical KnowledgeTransmission Line Design and ConstructionSubstation Design and ConstructionElectrical Utility OperationsProject Controls and SchedulingCost Management and ForecastingConstruction ManagementRisk ManagementUtility Regulatory ComplianceTools & SystemsMicrosoft ProjectPrimavera P6Microsoft Office SuiteSAP, Maximo, or other utility project management systems
