This individual will oversee multiple industrial automation and controls projects from initial planning through installation, commissioning, and final customer acceptance. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, and customer relationships while coordinating with engineering, purchasing, fabrication, and installation teams to ensure successful project delivery.

What You'll Do

  • Manage Project Execution: Lead multiple projects simultaneously, with individual project values of up to $4 million, from kickoff through completion and customer acceptance.
  • Develop Project Plans: Review proposals, purchase orders, and customer requirements to establish project scope, deliverables, schedules, budgets, milestones, and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate Resources: Work closely with engineering, purchasing, fabrication, controls, mechanical, and installation teams to align priorities, manage dependencies, and keep projects on schedule.
  • Monitor Budgets and Costs: Track labor, materials, equipment, and outside services against approved budgets. Maintain cost forecasts, identify variances, and communicate financial risks to management.
  • Manage Scope and Change Orders: Identify changes in project requirements, coordinate cost and schedule impacts, and obtain appropriate approvals before additional work begins.
  • Maintain Customer Relationships: Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing regular project updates, addressing concerns, communicating risks, and managing expectations.
  • Lead Project Meetings: Facilitate meetings, document decisions and action items, and follow up with team members to ensure outstanding tasks are completed.
  • Oversee Testing and Installation: Coordinate factory testing, acceptance testing, shipping, site readiness, installation, and commissioning activities with customers and internal teams.
  • Drive Project Closeout: Track punch list items, documentation, training, and customer signoff through final acceptance and transition to ongoing support.
  • Promote Safety and Continuous Improvement: Support safe work practices, coordinate required project reviews, and capture lessons learned to improve future project planning and execution.

What You'll Bring

  • At least 3 years of project management or project leadership experience in an industrial, manufacturing, equipment, or related technical environment; 5 years of experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, schedules, budgets, customer expectations, and competing priorities through completion.
  • Experience in industrial automation, controls, robotics, custom machinery, or systems integration is strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate work effectively without direct supervisory authority.
  • Ability to interpret technical proposals, equipment requirements, and project drawings well enough to coordinate activities and identify questions for engineering.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, electrical controls, and mechanical systems is preferred. Hands-on programming or design experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, project scheduling tools, and document management systems.
  • A degree in engineering, engineering technology, project management, business, or a related field is preferred; relevant industrial and project management experience may substitute for a degree.
  • PMP certification or a similar project management credential is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to travel to customer facilities as needed, up to approximately 30%.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
